Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 312

Being thrown right back into work immediately after her defense was exhausting, but Bonnie had no choice. Professor Dale was a notorious workaholic.

And his grad students and staff were constantly trying to outwork one another.

Bonnie took a screenshot and sent a crying sticker to their small studio chat: [I was supposed to go apartment hunting! Thank God I didn't set a firm time with the realtor.]

She thought everyone was still asleep, but Yvonne quickly replied with a teasing dog sticker: [Accept your fate. Professor Dale said you are absolutely mandatory for this Magnolia project.]

Yvonne was Bonnie's closest friend from grad school. They had both started as assistants at Dale's studio and naturally transitioned into full-time roles upon graduation.

She was a vibrant girl from Southpoint. Having not attended an elite undergrad program, Yvonne had thrown herself into overachieving when she got into Kingswood, deciding that hard work was the only way to beat natural talent.

Bonnie couldn't outwork her.

She joked back: [Looks like someone is heading out to the boondocks right after graduation. We're in the same boat. /teasing]

Yvonne was assigned to a project in a remote area, and every time she had to visit the site with the senior architects, it was pure torture for her motion sickness.

She fired back a sticker of someone throwing a punch, accusing Bonnie of being heartless.

Bonnie chuckled, grabbed a quick breakfast on her way out, and rode her bike to the studio.

Dale was a professor at Kingswood, so the studio was right on campus. When Bonnie arrived, the rest of the staff wasn't in yet. Their working hours were fairly flexible—so flexible that the place was usually empty before ten-thirty in the morning.

But Dale was always there before nine.

Since many stayed to work after graduation, they were both colleagues and alumni, making for a very tight-knit group.

When Bonnie first started her master's, she was one of the youngest. Now, she was a respected senior. Close to eleven o'clock, Perry Parker—an undergrad who was heading into his junior year in September and had been her constant assistant—finally strolled in.

Wearing a white athletic shirt and shorts, a messenger bag slung across his chest, and Bose headphones over his ears, he bopped his head to some music and shouted a cheerful good morning to the seniors as soon as he walked in.

Bonnie felt her eardrums practically burst and pretended she hadn't heard him.

Perry scanned the room, spotted Bonnie, and flashed a grin that made his tanned skin look even darker.

Pulling off his headphones, he bounded over to annoy her. "Bonnie, a day apart feels like three years! During the time you were busy with your defense, it felt like I hadn't seen you in half a lifetime! I missed you to death!"
