Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 369

At the time, Lawrence had told her he envied that childhood sweetheart connection too. He felt they had met too late, missing out on so many beautiful years.

And now, they were just wasting each other's time, year after year.

So she wasn't just crying out of joy for her best friend. She was crying for the perfect life she should have had, ruined by him.

Bitterness consumed him. "I failed you, Bonnie. However you want to lash out, whatever you want to do to me, I'll take it. Just tell me, okay?"

She stared at him, terrifyingly calm. "I want to have a screaming match with you. Do you have the guts for that? Lawrence, do you have the guts?"

In the past, no matter what went wrong, they fought it out until everything was crystal clear. They aired all their grievances, and there was no argument they couldn't survive.

But now, every punch she threw landed on cotton.

He was too scared to fight back.

And she knew a massive fight was exactly what they needed.

Predictably, his lips thinned into a line. He had rushed out without his glasses. His hand flew up out of habit to adjust frames that weren't there, so he rubbed his eyes instead to hold back the burn of impending tears.

"I never loved this version of you. I loved the man who had the balls to tell me his honest thoughts, who argued with me over right and wrong, who stood as my equal."

"If this were right after everything went down, watching the man who broke my heart become this pathetic, groveling, terrified mess would have been incredibly satisfying. It would have felt like karma. But..."

She struggled for the words. Turning around, she gripped the railing, her voice thick with bitterness. "But we've been through so much. It's been years, thousands of days and nights. I have genuinely moved past it. Everything I wanted to happen has already happened."

"All that agony I went through wasn't because we broke up. It was because I thought you didn't love me anymore. I questioned everything. I thought that entire year we spent together was a lie, a delusion I made up to survive my miserable life. That's why I shattered. That's why I couldn't handle it. I thought you didn't love me, and without your love, I didn't know how to love myself. You taught me how to love, and when you took it all away, you destroyed my world."
