She covered her eyes. She was rambling, spilling every chaotic thought as it came, but it felt incredibly liberating.
"I never hated that you left me. I only hated that you didn't love me. I was pathetic enough to think that as long as you loved me, I could forgive anything."
"I cried over you, I lost sleep over you. It took me so damn long just to function like a normal human being again. And right when I finally did, you came back. You hadn't fixed anything, but you showed up to annoy me, to hound me. You didn't bring me any salvation, just round after round of fresh pain."
Lawrence's heart was being sliced to ribbons. He took a step forward to speak, but she held up a hand to stop him. "You didn't fall for anyone else. You were caught between family and me. You were stuck, you had your secrets, you had your reasons. But why the hell did I have to pay the price for your selfishness?!"
A blazing heat erupted in her chest. She whipped around, her bloodshot eyes locking onto his devastated, heartbroken face. "You were the one who betrayed me, Lawrence! I never did a single thing wrong by you! Not one damn thing! You never deserved my love."
Tears spilled from his eyes. He desperately wanted to explain, but she wasn't finished, and she needed to get it all out.
"I'm not bringing this up to settle old scores or point fingers. I'm just telling you what I went through."
She closed her eyes tightly and opened them again. Silent tears rolled down her cheeks, washing away everything in their path and drowning his heart.
His vision blurred completely, obscuring her face.
