Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 387

Odette knew he would ask and had already prepared her answer. "Nothing major. Your sister's health apparently hasn't been great in prison. He just wanted us to visit her."

Lawrence didn't pry any further. Checking his watch, he said, "I'll take June back to The Observatory now. Bonnie and I are flying to Oasinia tomorrow morning. Mom, Dad, once I head to Highvale, I probably won't be able to come back and see you for a while. Take care of yourselves."

His parents had worried about him endlessly over the last few years, and their health wasn't what it used to be.

Odette smiled warmly. "Go on. Just call home when you can."

Lawrence promised he would. While petting June, he walked his parents through the dog's care routine, specifically mentioning the next few weeks with her dental aligners.

If he could make it back, he would take June to get the aligners removed himself. If not, his parents would have to handle it.

Finally, he crouched down to coax the little dog.

He wasn't sure if she could understand him, but June was on her best behavior as he left. She sat perfectly still in the courtyard, her head cocked to the side, not barking or trying to follow him out.

"Good girl," Lawrence praised. "When we come back, Mommy and Daddy will come pick you up together."

That, June seemed to understand. "Woof!"

...

On the day of departure, the driver took Lawrence and Bonnie to the airport. They would fly back to Oasinia first before parting ways to travel with their respective teams to Highvale.

The actual deployment wouldn't happen immediately, as prep work was still required.

Since this was Bonnie's first time participating in a mission like this, her nerves were on edge. Her specific team bound for Highvale was small—just her, Yvonne Walker, and a senior classmate.

Dale couldn't pull too many key personnel away from the studio, as their ongoing projects still needed attention, which was why he opted to bring three "rookies" from the list of volunteers.

It felt like he wanted to use the opportunity to heavily mentor them.

Hannah still refused treatment, but her clinical symptoms were becoming glaringly obvious. She lay in the hospital bed, her limbs completely devoid of strength. Even her facial nerves were compromised.

Jackson had never seen her look like that.

The muscles on one side of her face were tightly, asymmetrically contracted.

The doctors warned that if they didn't initiate treatment immediately, the consequences would be catastrophic.

Jackson knew Hannah was actively seeking death. Three years had passed, and she still hadn't let go of her obsessions. It filled him with immense heartbreak and a crushing sense of defeat.

But he still wanted her to live.

So his only option was to beg Lawrence.

He begged for Lawrence to just go see her. Even if it was just to show his face, it might be enough to reignite Hannah's will to survive.
