Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 396

"Sister, my big brother asked me to give this to you. He says please don't be mad at him anymore, okay?"

The little girl timidly uncurled her fingers. Resting in the center of her palm was a ring woven out of grass.

The cafeteria was crowded, and several people turned at the commotion, offering good-natured chuckles.

Yvonne winked suggestively. "Is Lawrence proposing in his own special way?"

"Stop talking nonsense," Bonnie muttered, her face turning crimson.

Embarrassed by the public spectacle, she quickly took the woven ring and gently placed her untouched apple into the girl's hands instead.

She patted the child's hand. "Thank you, Gemma."

Gemma, who absolutely adored the pretty women from the city, giggled and ran off. Ignoring the lingering stares of the crowd, Bonnie tossed her trash and decided to go find Lawrence to set the record straight.

She wasn't genuinely angry; she was just being petty.

She didn't even know where the foul mood had come from, but by instinct, she had unleashed her negative emotions on the person closest to her.

That wasn't fair to him.

She scanned the courtyard but couldn't spot him anywhere. Only a few kids were playing nearby. Bonnie looked down, her fingers tracing the rough texture of the sedge grass ring.

It was a common type of grass in Highvale; she had seen locals weaving all sorts of things with it.

She had no idea when Lawrence had learned the skill. The braided design was simple but surprisingly neat.

Judging by the size, it would fit her finger perfectly.

She walked over to the kids, crouching down to ask if they knew where he went. Gemma covered her mouth to hide her giggles.

The little girl's eyes sparkled like a star-filled sky against a pure black canvas.

After all these years, he hadn't really changed at all.

No matter what he had been through, his core remained the exact same—the earnest, devoted young man she had fallen in love with.

Her expression softened, and without realizing it, she picked up her pace, stumbling slightly over the icy, uneven rocks.

Lawrence strode forward and caught her by the arm, steadying her.

"What's the rush?" he scolded gently.

Bonnie looked past him and saw the stones on the riverbank arranged into a perfect heart shape. She bit her lip. "That's so juvenile. Is this your grand surprise?"

He let out a bright, ringing laugh, pulling her closer to the water. "Someone decided to get mad at me out of nowhere, so I didn't exactly have time to plan! I'll have you know I picked out every single one of those rocks very carefully."

Stepping closer, Bonnie realized the stones were remarkably uniform in size and shape, meticulously arranged. But what caught her breath was what lay on top—resting on each rock was a brilliant, sapphire-blue, trumpet-shaped Gentian flower.
