Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 422

By the time Bonnie finished washing her hands and walked out, she found Lawrence sitting rigidly on the couch, clutching her phone with a notably grim expression.

She walked over and checked the screen. The dealership's customer service had called about her car.

On her way home, Bonnie had originally planned to swing by and get the paint touched up immediately, but the mechanic had been out, so she figured she'd handle it another day.

She hadn't expected them to call back so quickly.

Lawrence looked at her with dead serious eyes. "Candie, why didn't you tell me you got into an accident? Are you hurt? Where did you scrape the car?"

Seeing him go into full crisis mode made Bonnie laugh out loud. She hadn't been trying to hide it—he had just been kissing and hugging her the second she walked through the door, so she hadn't had a chance to mention it.

She plucked her phone from his grip and shoved a pair of forks into his hand. "Let's eat while we talk. I'm starving."

Seeing that she was completely unharmed, and remembering the mechanic said it was just a minor paint scratch, Lawrence's racing heart finally settled.

Bonnie grabbed a bite of stir-fried beef and casually explained, "I accidentally scraped someone else's car. But it turned out to be a friend. He was parked on the street and pulling out just as I was driving past. We just traded some paint, it's really no big deal."

Lawrence completely relaxed, picking up his fork to start eating. "Which friend? Do I know him?"

Bonnie slowly chewed her food. "You probably do... It was Aiken."

Lawrence's hand froze mid-air just as he was about to grab some vegetables. His grip tightened around the silverware for a split second before he forced his muscles to relax, deliberately picking up a single mushroom and placing it on his plate.

"Oh, him. Haven't seen him in years. So, what did you guys talk about?"

Bonnie glanced up at him. Lawrence was staring intently at his food, pretending to be perfectly casual. She raised an eyebrow, slightly surprised.

Ever since they had reconciled, Lawrence had started showing flashes of his overbearing, insanely possessive twenty-year-old self. It wasn't toxic, but his penchant for getting wildly jealous hadn't faded one bit.

He didn't try to control her, but he would occasionally drop ridiculously sour, passive-aggressive comments.

Comments so dripping with jealousy they made her teeth ache.
