Lawrence reached over his shoulder, rubbing his back as if she had mortally wounded him. "You play rough, Ms. Shirley! As if I'd dare start dating now. And even if I did, I wouldn't have a death wish by going after your kid!"

Shirley knew he was just messing around and gave him a light shove. "Alright, alright. Go sit down. I'm heading backstage to check on her. You're in charge of keeping order here."

Lawrence had been her class president for three years. Although he had a smart mouth, he was inherently reliable, grounded, and consistently ranked first in the grade. Shirley trusted him implicitly.

Once she walked away, the students in Senior Class Eight whispered a few more comments about Bonnie's stunning looks before their attention was inevitably stolen by the next act.
