Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 457

Relaxing slightly, she raised her eyes and looked at Lawrence. It was the first time she had really allowed herself to study his face.

She noticed the strong arch of his brow bone, which gave his deep-set eyes an intense, magnetic quality. When he looked at her, his eyes were incredibly dark and bright.

He looked entirely focused on her.

Bonnie's cheeks grew warm. She forced herself to look away from his eyes, fixing her gaze on the clean line of his mouth instead. "Why... why are you still here?"

Lawrence thought she always seemed so cool and composed on the surface, but she actually flustered so easily. And her eyelashes were impossibly long, fluttering rapidly.

Like two little fans.

Except all they did was fan the heat straight into his own cheeks.

"I was buying shoes," he said, awkwardly lifting the shopping bag. "Are... are you having dinner here tonight?"

Bonnie's eyes dropped to the pristine sneakers he was wearing. They were spotless, radiating the same crisp, refreshing energy that he did.

"I'm grabbing dinner with my friend. I should get back inside," she murmured, her grip tightening on her phone. She didn't look up. "Goodbye."

With that, she sidestepped him and practically jogged back into the bookstore.

Lawrence opened his mouth to stop her but swallowed the words. He simply didn't have the courage to ask for her number or her WhatsApp.

When he really thought about it, what right did he have to ask for her contact info anyway?

It would be way too aggressive.

But the truth was, he didn't have any ulterior motives. He just felt it wasn't safe for a girl to go home so late by herself.

Especially when those two bullies were still out there somewhere.

What if they tried to retaliate?

He turned the thought over and over in his head, entirely unable to shake his worry.
