Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 479

"Why do you like such crazy things?" Bonnie asked, patting her chest. "I swear my heart almost jumped out of my throat. I really thought we were going to flip."

Lawrence smiled easily. "Oh, I'm into a lot of crazy things. I'm planning to show you all of them this month. Fair warning though, if you couldn't handle the racing, you might hate the rest. So, still want to hang out with me?"

Bonnie's eyes darted around, calculating. She looked at him. "Tell me what else is on the list first."

He thought for a second. "Skydiving, bungee jumping, scuba diving. Just the basic stuff. How does that sound?"

Having zero experience with any of it, Bonnie didn't feel the instinctive terror of the unknown. Instead, she just felt a sudden pang of envy. Why did he get to live so freely?

"Doesn't Odette care? From how you drive, you're obviously not a beginner. If skydiving and scuba diving are 'basic,' what do you consider hard?"

Lawrence had never been micromanaged a day in his life. "As long as I hit the academic benchmarks my parents set, my time is my own. I've always loved cars, but I only started tracking them after I turned eighteen. Whenever I have downtime, I come here to practice. Compared to the pros, I'm a complete amateur. I'm literally just showing off for you."

Bonnie's eyes curved into crescents. "Well, I think you're amazing at it."

Hearing the girl he liked praise him sent a surge of pride through Lawrence's chest. He put on a show of mock humility. "You flatter me. But seriously, don't worry, I won't put you in danger. Everything we do will be entry-level. I don't even mess with the high-risk stuff myself. And if you ever get scared, you can pull the plug immediately."

For reasons she couldn't explain, Bonnie trusted him implicitly. Blushing slightly, she nodded.

They rested in the lounge for a while before switching to an open-air sightseeing cart to head deeper into the Caledon resort. Thanks to her lingering motion sickness from the race, every time the cart took a turn, Bonnie felt like the world tilted.

As the cart strained up a steep incline, she lost her balance. She swayed, sliding uncontrollably on the slick vinyl seat, and practically threw herself right into Lawrence's chest.

An awkward silence stretched between them as the reality of the moment finally set in. Thankfully, they reached the hiking trail shortly after. Lawrence quickly composed himself, hopped out, and offered her a gentlemanly arm.

With the trail crowded with lively tourists, the bustling atmosphere instantly dissolved the lingering awkwardness.

Lawrence smoothly changed the subject, pointing out the scenic views of Caledon as they climbed. By the time they reached the top and sat down for a delicious lunch, the easy banter had completely returned.

So much so that by the time Bonnie was back in the passenger seat of the Koenigsegg heading toward campus, the nausea was completely gone, and all the exhaustion from the day had evaporated.

The only thing left was a quiet reluctance to say goodbye.

Her first real date... had been pretty amazing.
