Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 59

Even during practice, if Hannah so much as bumped her knee, Lawrence would drop whatever he was doing and rush over to check on her.

Bonnie couldn’t help feeling a little wistful, and, oddly, almost wanted to laugh. If Lawrence and Hannah really were true love, it still wasn’t pure. Bonnie was the reason why. Three years ago, she had taken the girlfriend spot that was supposed to be Hannah’s. Now, three years later, Hannah finally had her place, but Lawrence was suddenly playing the caring ex-boyfriend behind her back. The whole thing felt ridiculous.

Lawrence didn’t say anything for a long time, just stared at Bonnie, his face unreadable. Eventually, he spoke quietly. “Okay.” He ended the call.

Off to the side, Helen let out a contemptuous snort. “She twists her ankle and calls her husband instead of a doctor? She hasn’t changed one bit… still clueless as ever.”

Lawrence shot her an annoyed look, but Bonnie stepped between them with a calm voice. “Leave.” Simple, no drama.

Bonnie never really cursed at people. Back when she was dating Lawrence, she’d run through the same handful of words: jerk, crazy, leave. Back then, it was teasing. Lawrence was never bothered. Instead, he’d just pull her close and kiss her until she stopped pretending to be angry.

But this time, she genuinely meant it. Leave.

Lawrence’s hand clenched so tight around his phone, it looked like he might break it. He didn’t argue or linger. He just turned and walked out.

The second Lawrence left, Helen flung her arms around Bonnie, practically giddy. “God, that felt good. I’ve been dying to let him have it, but honestly, my manners keep me from really showing off my curses…”

Bonnie smiled. “You did great. Maybe I should take some notes from you.”

You can’t always tell people to leave. Sometimes, they just circle back, ending up right where they started.

But Helen was still curious. “So what happened the other night, really? Did you two meet up?”

Bonnie didn’t bother hiding it anymore. She told her what happened, just the facts. That alone made Helen blow up, cursing Lawrence out all over again.

Finally, Helen huffed, “Why didn’t you let me tell him off? After everything you went through with Hannah’s crazy fans, losing hearing in your left ear—that’s for life. Why should that scumbag get to walk away without making it right?”
