Chapter 6
Thirty minutes later, the company’s front doors swung open.
My dad, Chairman Sterling Thorn, walked in with a whole entourage of executives and the legal team.
His presence was so commanding that every employee in the place went silent and automatically cleared a path.
The entire office floor was dead quiet except for the sound of his confident footsteps.
He walked straight to me, his eyes showing a severity and protectiveness I’d never seen before.
He reached up and smoothed down my slightly messy hair.
“Did they hurt you?”
I shook my head, feeling my throat tighten up, but I held it together.
“No, Dad. I just think your company deserves better than this.”
Dad nodded and squeezed my shoulder.
“You’re absolutely right.”
Wren, who was collapsed on the floor, saw my dad and must have thought he was her lifeline.
She crawled over on her hands and knees, trying to grab onto his legs.
“Chairman Thorn, I’m so sorry! I messed up so bad! I had no idea she was your daughter!”
She was crying and snotting all over herself, looking absolutely pathetic.
Dad’s expression was cold as ice.
He stepped back to avoid her reaching hands, his face showing pure disgust.
He spoke to the head of security who’d followed him in:
“Get this random woman out of my building.”
“Also, I want a full investigation into how she got access to this office, who approved her presence here, and who gave her permission to terrorize my employees.”
“Everyone involved gets fired! I don’t care what their title is. They’re blacklisted from this company for life!”
His words were completely emotionless.
When Wren heard this, her crying stopped abruptly, replaced by pure despair,
Two security guards stepped forward, grabbed her arms, and started dragging her toward the exit.
“Jaxon! Jaxon, save me! I don’t wanna go! I’m sorry!”
She kept screaming his name as they hauled her out, but nobody gave a shit.
Rollingt
The woman who’d been playing queen bee around here was just publicly thrown out like garbage.
Dad moved to the center of the office floor.
He looked around at all the silent employees and announced in a clear, strong voice:
“Effective immediately, Brielle Thorn will assume the position of Regional Manager, with full authority over all operations at this location.”
“Jaxon is suspended pending a final decision from the board of directors.”
When he finished speaking, it finally clicked for all the employees.
I was the real “princess” all along.
