Too Late She Already Married Mr. Right (Sophia) novel Chapter 278

That afternoon, the news of Billy getting hospitalized found its way to Sophia, and Helen called her right after.

As soon as Helen's voice came through the line, Sophia's brow furrowed.

"What do you want?" Sophia asked.

Helen felt annoyed the moment she heard Sophia's voice, but she knew Sophia wasn't the pushover she used to be.

She didn't dare criticize Sophia like before.

"Sophia, I just don't get why things between you and Lucas are such a mess now. Weren't you the one who loved him most, always willing to give up everything for him—no regrets?" Helen's voice came over coldly.

Sophia couldn't help but laugh to herself at Helen's words.

Back then, she'd gone all out-learning marketing, PR, even cooking. All just for Lucas.

She pushed herself to master every skill she wasn't good at, but in the end, all she got was betrayal and a lost child.

And now Helen was still stabbing with that whole "no regrets" line. 'Did she really think I was some kind of saint?' she thought.

"I used to love him. But now, he's nothing but trash to me. Helen, your son beats his wife and cheats on her, and instead of setting him straight, you come after me? Where do you even get the nerve?" Sophia snapped

After three years as Lucas's wife, I can honestly say I kept my conscience clean with the Westwood family;

Sophia thought.

Helen remembered what Billy told her and forced herself to hold back her anger. "Look, I know Lucas messed up. Why don't you come back to the house tonight? I'll tear into him right in front of you."

"Save the act. I'm done with the Westwood family."

Sophia shot back

Helen forced a smile. "Fine, if you won't come home, just tell me where you are. I'll come find you, alright?"

"You seriously don't need to bother with me, and I don't have time to deal with you," Sophia replied.

With that, Sophia hung up.

Helen was so furious she nearly smashed her phone, her face twisted with venom.

"That little bitch! She hasn't even divorced my son yet, and she dares to treat me like I don't even matter by hanging up on me?" Helen spat, her voice dripping with contempt.

"If she wasn't clutching that damn formula for skin regeneration patent, I'd never be groveling to her like this, Helen fumed inwardly.

Hedy tried to soothe Helen. "Mrs. Westwood, please don't be angry. At least she still picks up when you call

—I'm sure deep down, she still respects you."

"Back then, she was so unrefined, and I didn't care that she came from nowhere. I agreed to let Lucas marry her. Now she's doing better, she acts like she doesn't know us—just trash in polite society."

Hedy gently patted her back, trying to calm her down.

"Don't let someone like her mess with your health, Mrs. Westwood. She's really not worth it."

"That's not even what really ticks me off. What makes me furious is how she's selling us out. That formula for skin regeneration patent belongs to the Westwood Group—ours!

"And now she's handing it over to the Nelson Group?

She's acting like she's above the law. I'm going to file a complaint against her," Helen ranted.

The angrier Helen got, the less she could hold back

"No, go call Stanley here. I want him to track down exactly where Sophia is. If she thinks she can give me that kind of attitude, she won't know what hit her."

Hedy wanted to say something else, but seeing Helen's no-compromise look-clearly determined not to let Sophia off the hook-she swallowed her words.

"T'll go talk to Stanley right now," Hedy replied.

As soon as Sophia hung up, Annabelle came up beside her. "I could hear Lucas's mother's toxic attitude even through the phone. What? Is she trying to mess with you again?"

Sophia brushed her aside. "You're surprised? That's basically her hobby at this point. Whatever, I'm not losing sleep over it."

Annabelle checked the group chat. [After the Nelson Group announced they were developing a regenerating cream, Billy was so pissed that he ended up in the hospital. Yadel Group is scrambling to keep this under wraps-if word gets out, their stock will probably crash hard tomorrow.]

Not about to throw herself into trouble, Sophia knew when to fold. The bodyguard opened the door, and with a mental shrug.

Once the car rolled out, Sophia glanced over and asked coldly, "So I heard Mr. Westwood's sick-this isn't some ploy to make me visit him, is it?"

"What's the point of seeing him now? Sophia, you snuck into our R&D lab, stole the data for the formula for skin regeneration, then got Pioneer Institute to dress it up and snatch the patent. Because of you,

Yadel Group is drowning in bad press.

"Today, I want you to tell the reporters you're just a fraud. Say it loud—that Yadel Group's mess is all your fault," Helen said coldly.

Sophia never expected that Yadel Group's genius PR plan was to pin everything on her.

She let out a mocking laugh. "Wow, you people really are brain-dead."

"Who do you think you're talking to, Sophia? You're nothing but a small-town girl. If the Westwood family hadn't picked you up, you'd still be rolling around in the mud like you grew up," Helen sneered.

Blazing with anger, Helen raised her hand to slap Sophia.

Sophia snatched her wrist in midair and, without missing a beat, slapped Helen hard across the face.

"Seriously, I don't get it. Your family's just as country as mine if you go back a few generations. What makes you think you're so damn superior?" Sophia fired back.

Helen's cheek burned, and she glared at Sophia, absolutely stunned. "You dare hit me?"

Sophia slapped her again, her tone full of scorn. "Hit you? Why not. Am I supposed to wait for a special occasion or something?"

Helen trembled with fury, itching to call for backup, but being inside the car left her powerless for the moment.

She spat. "Sophia, just wait until we step out-I'll make you pay."

Sophia's eyes flashed with danger. She didn't hesitate

—she grabbed Helen by the hair, slammed her face down into the car seat, and unleashed slap after slap, each one ringing out sharper than the last.

"No need to wait until we're out of the car. I'll make you regret it right now." Sophia spat, voice ice-cold and merciless.
