“Alright, fine. I'll do it.”
Owen tilted his head back in resignation.
At worst, it would just be business as usual.
Each subsidiary already had its own capable leadership. Mira just needed to handle the final consolidations.
She figured if she established a dedicated executive office, she'd have an entire team to handle the grunt work for her.
“Deal. But while you're at it, you're going to help me build that executive office too.”
“Do it yourself.”
Owen shook his head flatly.
“Fine, don't. I'll just have Kieran help me.”
Mira knew it was better to handpick her own inner circle anyway. She'd let Kieran manage the recruitment campaigns, and she would make the final selections.
And whenever she was tied up with school, Owen would be forced to oversee things anyway.
Despite his tough talk, he never actually left her out to dry when it mattered.
What followed was an aggressive new wave of hiring. Every single subsidiary needed manpower.
For now, they would transfer core talent from Melvion City, but the bulk of the workforce would need to be sourced and trained locally in Aethelgard.
Mira's immediate priority, however, was pouring resources into Owen's new venture: Nexus Core Systems.
“I need to ask you one more time. Are you absolutely certain about developing a proprietary smartphone OS? It's not too late to back out.”
Owen still harbored serious reservations.
This was a bottomless money pit. Once R&D kicked off, it would burn through billions of dollars annually.
Dumping every cent of profit from all of Mira's current companies into this project might not even be enough to keep the lights on.
“I am absolutely certain. I have to do this.
Moving forward, mobile phones will become increasingly intelligent. Their functionality will rival desktop computers; they'll essentially be pocket-sized supercomputers.
