Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 379

"Harrison Moore, why did you kick her?" Mara yelled, rushing over to help the fallen girl up.

Harrison looked at Mira. "She was sneaking up behind you, acting incredibly suspicious."

It was only then that Mira got a clear look at the girl. It was Lexie Fontaine, the daughter of Lydia Fontaine (Shane Porter's mistress). She was also Mara's devoted lackey and strategist.

Out of the corner of her eye, Mira spotted Jax Weaver rapidly approaching from his concealed position. She subtly signaled for him to stand down.

Melvion Central High School was heavily secured, and outsiders couldn't simply waltz in. The campus was generally incredibly safe. Even if tensions flared with students or teachers, practically no one here posed a physical threat to her.

Because of this, Silas Vane and Jax Weaver usually took shifts resting once she was safely inside the school gates.

Given the high security, her bodyguards typically stayed hidden, watching from a distance just in case.

But this time, the enemy, unable to find an opening outside, had exploited this precise vulnerability.

Liora scoffed at the sight of them. "I was just thinking Mara actually grew a spine over winter break since she's been so quiet lately. But nope, here she goes again."

Mara shot back, "...Liora, stop making baseless accusations. Harrison clearly just assaulted Lexie."

Lexie clung to Mara's arm, struggling for a few moments before finally standing up. She had clearly taken a hard fall.

Lydia Fontaine had trained her daughter well. Lexie always presented herself as impeccably neat, well-mannered, and refined.

Standing next to Mara, she easily passed for an elite heiress.

But right now, her hair was a mess, her clothes were filthy, and she was limping heavily. She looked like a complete wreck.

"You're psychotic! I was just walking normally. Why would you kick me? I'm reporting you to the teachers for unprovoked assault."

With that, Lexie pulled out her phone.

"Alright, alright. We're all classmates here. Let's just drop it this time," Mara said, uncharacteristically stepping back from a fight and trying to pull Lexie away.

"No! He kicked me for absolutely no reason. I'm not just going to let this go," Lexie argued, pretending to resist Mara's pull.

"How about you just apologize to her?" Mara asked, looking at Harrison with a conflicted expression.
