Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 551

Roxanne screamed. "Mira Mercer? What right does she have to declare our group bankrupt?"

"A-Allen said Mira holds over half our company's shares," Victoria Porter stammered, feeling guilty in front of her daughter. "She has controlling interest."

"But we held fifty-two percent! How could she possibly get fifty-one?" Roxanne was furious. She couldn't understand how her shrewd father, Shane Porter, had ended up with such a useless woman. Even if her mother had never managed the company, shouldn't she have picked up some basic business sense after years as the matriarch of a massive corporation?

"I lost the Corporate Seal a few days ago," Victoria confessed reluctantly. "Someone left a note saying they'd return it in exchange for three percent of our shares. I thought three percent was nothing compared to what we had, so I just..."

"Did it never cross your mind why they only asked for three percent?" Roxanne roared. "That was enough for her to seize control and utterly destroy Porter Entertainment! It was just a seal! If it was lost, it was lost. As long as the control stayed in the family, we would have been fine. Now the company is dead in the water!"

Ignoring Lawrence Lance's presence, Roxanne curled up in the corner of the sofa and sobbed hysterically.

"Stop crying. The bankruptcy is a done deal. Figure out your next move," Lawrence said coldly. "What about my money?"

His words snapped Roxanne back to reality.

"We're at the end of the line. I'll do whatever it takes to pay you back. We'll keep just enough for my mother and brother to survive, and you can have the rest of our assets.

I'll spend the rest of my life working off the remaining balance. Is that acceptable?

With my skills, as long as you give me a chance, I'll pay it all back."

Since the bankruptcy was internal, regular creditors would just have to cut their losses. The corporate debt wouldn't bleed into personal assets.

However, Roxanne had made the fatal mistake of borrowing money privately from Lawrence.

Now, she was personally on the hook.

Roxanne knew all her remaining assets wouldn't even dent the hundreds of millions she owed him.

...

Adrian Mercer was on his deathbed, but he held on purely to see Shane Porter's trial day.

Ethan Mercer was the plaintiff. As Shane's sworn enemy, Mira naturally attended the hearing.

Lacey Quinn Mercer was there too. Although Adrian and Fiona Quinn had driven her out...

Shane had been the mastermind behind Mara's actions, which ultimately destroyed Lacey's family.

Her hatred for Shane rivaled Adrian's.

Lucas and Damon also showed up. They tried to greet Mira, but she completely ignored them.
