Adrian lay propped up on a medical transport bed. As Mira walked past, she glanced at him. He was nothing but skin and bones.
She had only left the Mercer family a year ago, but not a trace remained of the arrogant, sharp-suited chairman he once was.
Adrian struggled to turn his head, desperate to get a good look at her.
Mira wasn't overly dressed up. She wore her hair in a simple ponytail, dressed in a white jacquard slip dress with a matching shawl.
Though it looked understated, anyone with a sharp eye could tell it was an Elysian Couture silk ensemble worth thousands of dollars.
Silas Vane and Jax Weaver flanked her like shadows.
The sheer aura of power she commanded now left Adrian deeply intimidated.
Even the most ruthless corporate titans of Aethelgard didn't exude such presence.
Summoning every ounce of his failing strength, Adrian gasped, "I'm sorry... If I could turn back time..."
"If I could turn back time, I'd still cut ties with all of you," Mira interrupted coldly.
Mira turned her head, refusing to look at the despair in his eyes.
What was done was done; there was no redemption, even on his deathbed.
"Mira..."
Ethan started to speak, wanting to plead for his dying father, but he swallowed his words.
Damon looked at his younger sister with a chaotic swirl of emotions.
She was now the chairman of Solflare Entertainment, his own boss, an untouchable force.
She should have been his pillar of support, the pride of the Mercer family, but he no longer had the right to call her family.
Mara Mercer was also present, as she was deeply entangled in the case.
Although Roxanne had bailed her out previously, she was currently escorted by the police as a convicted prisoner.
The courtroom erupted into chaos.
"I'll kill you!"
Victoria shrieked, lunging at Adrian before being tackled by the bailiffs.
"Adrian Mercer, I hope you rot!"
Victoria screamed.
"You and Shane are the ones rotting," Adrian wheezed with a grim smile.
"You schemed against me your whole lives, and in the end, my children surpassed all expectations.
Our company is back, and I get to die in peace."
"You..."
