Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 71

“Mara, she’s your own sister!

Don’t you know that once she gets sent to a place like that, it’ll be on her permanent record? Her future will be ruined!” Ethan demanded, staring at Mara.

“Huh? Is it that serious? I’m sorry, I didn’t know. It’s all my fault.”

“Don’t say that. What did you do wrong? You’re just trying to do what’s best for her. If you ask me, it’s a brilliant idea,” Damon said, still fuming.

In her bedroom, Mira watched the scene unfold on the security monitor.

She was well-acquainted with Mara’s viciousness, but Damon’s cruelty was something she hadn’t expected. She had always known him to be selfish and unscrupulous in pursuit of his own interests, but this was a new low.

Meanwhile, Rachel, who was tidying up the bedroom, was also listening to the conversation in the dining room.

When she heard the words “juvenile detention,” she couldn’t listen anymore.

They were family, for crying out loud. How could they be so malicious?

She quietly took out her phone, and in a corner hidden from the camera’s view, she typed out those two words and sent them to Mira.

Mira’s phone buzzed. She glanced at the message and clenched her jaw.

She sat up in bed, grabbed a packet of the powder she had gotten from Master Ellis, and sprinkled it on the floor in the path Damon and Mara would have to take to get to their bedrooms.

After she was done, her hands were still trembling slightly.

To be honest, Mira was still too soft. This was the first time she had ever taken the offensive; before, she had always been on the defensive.

With that done, she ignored them and focused on organizing a list of songs that would have market potential in the future.

Now that she had established a record company, these were all assets she could use to make money.

However, she couldn't release too many at once. It would arouse suspicion and cause market fatigue. She had to release them slowly.

As she worked, she glanced at the monitor. It was getting late; they should be coming up soon.
