When Mira and Owen returned home, Rachel served up a comforting, slow-simmered soup. It was a staple waiting for Mira every time she came back.
Rachel always worried that she wasn't eating well or adapting to the food outside.
“See? My place is the best, isn't it?”
Mira said between spoonfuls of soup.
Most hired help wouldn't be this thoughtful.
Owen nodded.
“You should just marry me and take my last name.”
Owen cast an amused glance her way. “We're both lone wolves. Does it matter who takes whose name?”
“It does. If you take my name, you answer to me. I rule the roost.”
“I have absolutely no problem answering to my future wife.”
“That's what I like to hear.”
Finishing their soup, the two retreated to the study.
They picked out a few urgent tasks and began to work.
Mira casually opened a media site. “Wow! Look, it's all news about us.”
The first thing that caught her eye on the front page was a striking photo of the two of them.
Mira kept scrolling, checking several news platforms, and found exactly the same thing.
Some reporters even went as far as calling it “Owen Lance's Engagement Party,” attaching photos of them in their formal wear.
After scrolling for a while, she couldn't find a single article about Lawrence and Seraphina.
“How did this happen?”
“Exactly as expected.
The media only cares about engagement and clicks. They don't have the bandwidth for anything else.”
“But they were invited by the Lance family.”
“Am I not a Lance?”
As for internal family conflicts, the media didn't care about that right now.
“Do you think Lawrence and Seraphina will be furious?”
