Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 827

Mira and her group's hotel wasn't far from Wall Street. It was only about a three-mile drive away.

Hank Whitlock led the way. Vaughn, the man guiding them, was someone Hank had arranged and also served as the head of their security detail for this trip.

Vaughn was of Asian descent, though clearly not from Mavaria. Everyone just heard Hank call him by his first name. Hank hadn't bothered to introduce his nationality or full name, and Mira's group knew better than to pry.

When traveling abroad in mixed company, rarely did anyone use their real identity anyway.

"I'm no stranger to this area. I was here a couple of years ago,"

Hank remarked as they walked.

"Did you make any trades the last time you visited?"

Owen Lance asked with a smile.

"How could I resist once I was here?"

"And how did that turn out?"

"Hahaha..."

Before Hank could answer, Vaughn burst into laughter.

As they walked, Mira and the others stared at the two men, their eyes sparkling with curiosity.

Hank's gaze darted away defensively. "Seriously, Vaughn? Do you have nothing better to do?

That's all in the past. Why stir up old gossip?"

Vaughn brushed him off completely. "What's wrong with sharing a little history as a learning experience for everyone?

Unless, of course, you did something shameful?"

Vaughn looked downright conspiratorial, his dark eyes shifting mischievously as his thick beard twitched.

"You! If you keep spouting nonsense, I won't hold back."

Hank wasn't bluffing; he was genuinely annoyed. The others broke a slight sweat for Vaughn. After all, he was a subordinate operating under Hank's orders.

Despite Hank's polished, harmless exterior, he was by no means a pushover.

Surprisingly, Vaughn wasn't intimidated in the slightest. "Oh! Did you actually do something shameful?"

Hank snapped. He threw a punch squarely at Vaughn's face, but the man narrowly dodged, letting the blow land on his back instead.

"Ouch!"

Vaughn reached back to rub his shoulder. "Just a joke, man. Why'd you hit so hard?"

"I told you to quit talking nonsense."

Hank shot him a sideways glare.

"Hank, why are you hitting him? What exactly did you do that's so secretive?"
