He ripped her clothes and slapped her hard across the face.
She barely had time to process what was happening before Chad slapped a strip of tape over her mouth and started snapping pictures. But instead of sending the photos to David or Travis, he sent them to Amanda.
Amanda would love to see her dead. What good would it do to send her those pictures?
Chad caught the anger and terror in her eyes and grinned. “Of course, I want her to suffer. I’m sending her your photo first, just to shake her up. Tomorrow, I’ll have Travis use her to trade for you. Imagine what she’ll think of Travis after that?”
The last two days had been hell for Chad.
Travis was hunting him down. His creditors were after him too. Both sides wanted his head.
He’d thought he had it all under control. All those expensive gifts Travis sent Amanda funded his gambling habit. He’d been on top of the world, living large as Travis' right-hand man. Everyone wanted to please him.
Now he was nothing but a loser who’d fallen from grace. He’d lost everything. The creditors, who used to go easy on him, had suddenly turned ruthless these past couple of days. He wasn’t stupid—he knew this was Travis' way of pushing him into a corner.
Travis wanted him dead. Well, if he was going down, he’d make sure no one got out unscathed.
Leila sobbed, shaking her head.
Chad ripped the tape off her mouth.
She whispered, voice trembling, “Chad, I’ll do whatever you want. I want Amanda gone too. You know I helped you, Chad. You know I trust you.”
Leila’s heart skipped a beat.
Did she know Chad was in love with her? Of course she did. The way he looked at her was obvious, his eyes always burning with longing. But she had Travis in her life. How could she ever give Chad a second thought? She’d only ever used his feelings and her charity as a leash, making him her puppet.
Now, that puppet had snapped his strings.
And in the next instant, her worst nightmare came true.
Chad grabbed her chin and kissed her hard.
“Leila, I love you.”
