Top Assassin with Superpowers Reborn novel Chapter 152

That's why Ted didn't give Raymond the time of day at all!

No matter how powerful or rich the Tuckers were, could they stack up to someone like him—someone with the country's power in his hands?

After hearing the principal's explanation, Ted straightened right up, putting on this big, superior act.

This Raymond—once he hears who I am, he'll probably be scared shitless, right?

Ted looked at Raymond all cocky, a smug grin pulling at his lips, waiting to see the shock and panic wash over his face.

But after the principal finished introducing him, Raymond didn't care one single bit. "So what if you're in the Cabinet? You know how much cash my family—my brother—hands your government every damn day?"

Raymond's cocky reply made Ted's face darken like a storm cloud.

Raymond didn't waste another second on Ted. He turned to Margaret and said, "Maggie, let's bounce. Someone bit it here—it's bad juju."

Margaret was done too. "Yeah."

She helped the middle-aged woman—still shaking like a leaf from fear—and said coldly but politely, "Madam, let's go."

The woman looked at Margaret then, her worn-out eyes brimming with gratitude. "Thank you, thank you both so much."

Margaret replied calmly, "It's the right thing to do."

But the middle-aged woman looked confused.

Margaret and the others turned to leave.

Ted—totally brushed off—had a face as black as night!

How dare they ignore me like this!

He threw all decorum out the window, forgot he was a big shot, and yelled furiously, "Hold it right there! Did I say you could split?"

Raymond didn't flinch one bit. He stared Ted down and said, "What? You gonna stop us? Let me tell you—lay one finger on me, and my brother cuts off all the government's cash flow faster than you can blink!"

When Ted heard that, his face drained of color, his brows knitting into a tight knot.

The Tuckers pay substantial sums of money to the government every year. If they really pull that plug, even I can't take the heat.

Especially since I'm up for a promotion. I gotta steer clear of the Tuckers if I can.

Right then, the crowd nearby started buzzing.

"Damn! So he's a government official—so what? How dare he arrest people out in the open like this!"

"Yeah! That lady didn't do jack wrong, and he's tryna lock her up? This is a rule-of-law society—you can't just haul someone in for no reason!"

"We should blow this up—expose him!"

Listening to all the chatter, Ted knew he couldn't keep this standoff going.

Finally, he snapped, "Fine. Let 'em go."

I still gotta keep up appearances in public. Can't mess up now—not when I'm this close.

Ted glared daggers at the three walking away.

I can't touch these two Tuckers for now, but this woman and her family? They're dead meat!

Margaret rolled her eyes at him, as cold and unfeeling as ever, and headed for the motorcycle.

Margaret hopped on her heavy bike, Raymond on the back, and they took off for Tucker Villa.

When they pulled up to the gate, Margaret gave Raymond a disgusted look and said, "Alright, beat it."

Under her threatening stare, Raymond climbed off the bike reluctantly. He looked at her and asked, "Maggie, aren't you coming home?"

Margaret replied coldly, "No. Got stuff to do."

Raymond perked up, curious. "Maggie, what stuff? You need my help?"

"None of your business."

Margaret stayed the icy goddess—that coldness ran deep, elegant and totally unapproachable.

Raymond used to think Edward was as cold as they came, but now? He realized Margaret was even more distant—impossible to get close to.

Vroom!!

Margaret twisted the throttle hard. The bike roared, spun around easily on the spot, then took off like a shot.

"Cough... cough..."

Raymond stood there, dumbfounded, sucking down a big cloud of exhaust.

He just couldn't wrap his head around Margaret anymore.
