Chapter 44 Accept the Challenge

What happened next left everyone frozen in shock.

The “weak and fragile” Margaret caught Ruby’s swinging hand with just one palm!

And Ruby, her arm trapped, was contorted in agony, her face twisted like she was being torn apart. This was insane!

Ruby was a tall, burly girl-six feet tall, with arms thicker than Margaret’s calves.

How the hell did Margaret pull this off?

Worse, Margaret looked totally relaxed like she wasn’t even trying.

In the corner, Raymond stared, stunned. He slowly set down the chair he’d grabbed, his knuckles still white.

“You’re this weak… and you dared to act tough in front of me?” Margaret smirked, her eyes scanning Ruby like she was a bug.

“Margaret! Let… let go of me!” Ruby’s voice trembled, cold sweat soaking her leather jacket. Fear coiled in her gut.

Margaret’s grip was inhuman-like she was about to snap Ruby’s bones clean in half.

A bloodthirsty grin tugged at Margaret’s lips, bold and arrogant. “Why would I? What are you gonna do about it?”

She stood up, her slender figure and pure, beautiful face making her look fragile-like a flower in the wind. But her aura? It hit like a tsunami. Her eyes, sharp and strange, were cold as ice, no warmth at all.

Everyone stared. She looked like a cold-blooded predator-ruthless, deadly. A shiver ran down their spines, cold sweat breaking out on their backs.

That alone was mind-blowing. These kids were all lawless troublemakers, but right now? They were terrified of this girl.

Ruby especially-she felt like the Grim Reaper had his eyes on her. Margaret’s gaze is terrifying.

Thanks to her family, she’d met plenty of killers-men with blood on their hands. But their murderous intent? Nothing compared to Margaret’s.

“Ruby, I’m talking to you. Cat got your tongue?” Margaret frowned when Ruby stayed frozen. Her grip tightened-harder.

Ruby screamed in pain.

Faint, bone-crunching sounds drifted through the air. Everyone sucked in a sharp breath.

How bad does that hurt?

Tears streamed down Ruby’s face. She begged, “Margaret! Please let me go!”

Tough as she acted, Ruby was just a bully-picking on the weak, preying on the powerless. Now that the tables had turned, she folded like a house of cards.

“Apologize properly.” Margaret’s voice was flat, with not hint of emotion.

Then a wicked, dangerous smile spread across her pretty lips. “Say you’re sorry nicely, and I’ll let you off”

Ruby’s pride flared. “Margaret! Don’t push me too far!”

Begging is humiliating enough. Now she wants a real apology

“Push you too far?” Margaret let out a cold laugh. “Did you ever think about this day when you bullied

others?”

Her words were icy, her arrogance off the charts. That confident glow? It made her dazzling-impossible to look away from.

This was surreal. Was Margaret the one playing the bulls now? Had the script flipped or what?

“I told you to apologize. Quit stalling” Margaret lost her patience. Her grip tightened again-louder, clearer bone-crunching sounds this time.

“Ah! It hurts! I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” Ruby screamed like stuck pig.

“Margaret, I was wrong! Please forgive me!”

No one could believe it.

The old Margaret-too scared to speak up-was now the one calling the shots?

Margaret twisted Ruby’s arm, then flung her away like tsh. Ruby crashed hard onto the floor.

Margaret looked down at her, disgusted. “Pay me back all the money you stole-plus interest-by tomorrow. Otherwise, you’ll regret it.”

“Hiss…!” Ruby convulsed in pain for a minute before scrambling to her feet. She bolted for the door, then turned to glare at Margaret from a safe distance.

“Margaret! You hick! You dared to hit me? You’re dead neat! Meet me at the abandoned factory nearby tonight-if you’ve got the balls!”

She’d round up her goons and finish this girl off.

Instead of fear, Margaret’s eyes lit up-excited, like she was looking forward to a workout. “Sure. I’ll be there. Bring as many people as you want.”

Ruby froze when Margaret accepted the challenge. Then she snarled, “Fine! You’ve got guts, hick! Don’t you dare run!”

So what if Margaret is strong? Probably from doing farm work back in the sticks.

Strength doesn’t mean jack shit.

I can round up a dozen guys easy, and they’ll hack Margaret to pieces without even blinking.

After yelling her threat, she fled like a stray dog with its hil between its legs.

The classroom fell silent again, if only for a few seconds. Everyone stared at Margaret, their gazes intense enough to bore holes through her.

Under the collective stare, Margaret remained calm. She took out a tissue and wiped her fingers, as if repulsed by the mere thought of touching Ruby.

“M-Margaret? Is that really you?” A boy stammered, mustering all his courage to speak.

The current Margaret exuded an overwhelming aura that made conversation difficult.

“I don’t know you. I refuse to answer.” Margaret glanced at him, her expression cold and unapproachable.

She held no affection for her classmates. When the original Margaret was bullied by Ruby’s gang, these people had only watched indifferently.

Though they owed her no duty to help, she simply disliked them—no complicated reason needed.

“Tch, who does she think she is?”

After the initial shock, the girls resumed their sarcastic remarks.

In their eyes, Margaret might have grown prettier and stronger, but she was still the same vulnerable girl from before.

No sooner had they spoken than Margaret turned her gaze toward them.

The girl who’d made the comment flinched but glared back. “Margaret, why are you looking at me like that?”

“You tell me.” Margaret let out a cold laugh and walked toward the girl.

The girl shrank back in her chair, overcome by an inexplicable fear. If Margaret could defeat Ruby, she stood no chance against her.

“Margaret, I-I was just talking casually. I didn’t lay a finger on you.” She huddled deeper into her seat.

Seeing her timidity, the mocking smile on Margaret’s lis widened. “I didn’t hit you. Why are you so scared?”

The girl let out a relieved breath. But her relief was short-lived.

Next, she heard Margaret’s voice, cold as a demon’s whisper. “Weren’t you quite happy calling me names before? Every time you got bullied, you took it out on ne. How do you think I should pay you back? Hmm?”

Her gaze filled the girl with terror. “Margaret, I’m sorry! She was so frightened.

Margaret shifted her attention to another girl, who began trembling at the mere eye contact.
