The class split into two camps-Raymond’s fans and Margaret’s. Though Margaret’s supporters were all just guys hypnotized by her looks.
Then a voice cut through the noise. “Betting is open! Higher bets mean bigger wins!”
It was a chubby guy with glasses-sleek and shrewd, the son of a gambling tycoon. He could turn any event into a betting pool.
“I bet on Raymond! My whole month’s allowance-100 thousand!”
“Me too! Raymond’s unbeatable! I’ll put down 500 thousand!”
“Raymond all the way!”
“Hey! You A
guys
just cheering for Margaret! Why switch sides?”
“Ahem… We’ve got her back emotionally.”
Everyone loved a good show-soon, every bet was on Raymond.
The chubby guy Rickie Sargent frowned. “C’mon, you’re all betting on one side! I can’t run a pool like this- no odds!”
“I bet one million on Margaret.”
A voice supporting Margaret rang out.
The class went quiet. Someone scoffed, “Who’s the sucker throwing money away? Betting on Margaret’s a death wish!”
“Ahem… Margaret, are you betting on yourself?”
They followed the sound-and there was Margaret, placing her own bet.
Rickie looked hesitant. “Uh, Margaret… you got that kind of cash?”
Everyone knew the Tucker family’s “real heiress” was out of favor. No one figured she had much pocket
money.
Margaret pulled a motorcycle key out of her pocket and slammed it on the table. “I’ll put this
collateral.”

Rickie picked up the key, his eyes bulging. “Whoa! This is that limited-edition superbike! Costs over two million easy!”
Raymond’s gaze darkened as he stared at the key. It looked familiar.
“Is this enough?” Margaret sounded impatient, her voice cold.
“Yeah! Totally!” Rickie nodded frantically.
Total bets on Raymond added up to around two million Margaret was the only one betting on herself-one million.

If Raymond won, his supporters would only get half their principal as profit. If Margaret won, she’d take home the entire two million.
But no one in the class thought she stood a chance. The gap was too big.
Raymond was a taekwondo black belt. Before he got into racing, he’d even won the national taekwondo championship.
