Chapter 55 The Fearless Stand

Inside the abandoned factory, the sound of hundreds of footsteps suddenly boomed outside-like a small earthquake.
A few boys peeked out the door. The hillside was packed with men in black, as far as the eye could see. They’d never seen such a huge mob before. Their legs started shaking instantly.
“Raymond! Boss! There are tons of ’em out there-hundreds, easy!” Their voices trembled, thick with panic.
Counting Margaret and Raymond, they had less than ten people. How could they fight hundreds? Especially when those hundreds were armed.
“Yeah, got it.” Margaret’s face stayed calm-like even if the sky fell, she wouldn’t bat an eye.
Outside the factory, James Leslie led his men up the hillside. When he saw his thirty-odd guys lying sprawled across the square, he froze in shock.
His men were well-trained-each could take on three guys at once. Thirty of them should’ve held off a hundred enemies. But now they were all down.
Has the other side brought hundreds? Only a handful of gangs in Capaville can muster that kind of force.
“Mr. Leslie, they’re inside the factory up ahead!” one of his men reported.
“Let’s move.” James was a giant-six foot three, with a scar slicing across his cheek. He looked like a battle- hardened brute.
“Surround the place! Don’t let a single fly escape!” He ordered his men.
Whoever dares to touch my people isn’t walking out of here in one piece-no matter who they are!
In seconds, the factory was surrounded tight. James led group of his top men inside.
But instead of the hundred-strong crew he expected, he saw just a few kids—way too young to be gangsters.
James frowned. Did they book it the second they heard I was coming?
“Uncle! Over here! Help me!” Ruby’s weak voice cut through the air. She lay on the ground, half-dead, but her eyes lit up when she saw James.
James spun toward the sound. His scarred face twisted into a terrifying scowl. His eyes bulged-his niece was lying there, covered in blood.
“Ruby! Who did this? Which bastard dared touch my nice?!” he roared, storming over.
The boys beside Raymond huddled together, shaking like leaves. Raymond, still sitting on the floor, frowned. He wasn’t scared, but he was on edge.
He’d texted Edward. Now he just had to stall until Edward arrived.
“It was-” Raymond stood up, ready to take the blame.
As the fourth heir of the Tuckers, James would at least give him face-no way he’d start swinging right away.
But before he could finish, Margaret stepped forward, black umbrella in hand. She stood between James

and Ruby, her strange, cold eyes locking onto the furious gang leader.
“Full disclosure-I did it.” Her voice was cocky, full of arogance.

James’s momentum faltered when he saw her. She was stunning, but cold as ice. Is this girl out of her mind?
“Move. Or I’ll break your legs next.” He didn’t believe a fragile-looking girl like her could take down his men. But her boldness had already ticked him off.
“Uncle, it was her! She’s not human-she’s a devil! Be careful!” Ruby screamed, still terrified. She’d learned her lesson-she didn’t dare look down on Margaret anymore.
In her eyes, Margaret was a blood-soaked demon from Hell.
Ruby’s frantic cries made James finally focus on Margaret. He studied her carefully.
“Move.” He repeated, slower this time.
Margaret stood her ground, legs straight and steady. She stared him down, defiant. “I’m not moving. What are you gonna do about it?”
That took guts!
The boys from her class stared at her, starry-eyed. Boss so cool!
Like a badass female assassin straight out of an anime!
“Uncle! Save me! Please!” Ruby wailed, her wounds throbbing.
James’s face turned pitch black. His aura grew more menacing by the second. That scar on his cheek made him look even more ferocious.
This girl is way too arrogant!
Her defiance is a direct insult-she didn’t take me seriously at all.
