Chapter 88 The Tables Turn
Finished
As soon as they stepped into the lounge, Clara and Michelle burst into laughter-loud, triumphant, and full of relief.
“Clara, that hick Margaret’s reputation is a total trainwreck now!” Michelle cackled. “Check Twitter! The trending page is all the hashtags we bought. Everyone’s bashing her!
“Serves her right! She made me look like a fool-she deserves to get dragged through the mud forever!
“This feels amazing! After this, she’ll never dare show her face in public again!” Michelle rambled on.
Clara wore a creepy, cruel grin. “Michelle, she won’t have a ‘later’ at all.”
She’d hired a hitman. In a day or two, that hick would be dead.
Michelle frowned. “What do you mean by that?”
Clara just smirked mysteriously. “Nothing important.”
They sat down on the couch. Michelle leaned in, gossiping, “Clara, I heard our parents were talking. They want Jose to marry you?”
Clara’s cheeks turned pink. The thought made her heart race with joy. “Yeah. Jose agreed. He said we’ll re- engage once things calm down.”
“Wow! Clara, you’re finally gonna be Jose’s wife! You’re perfect for him-Margaret, that hick, doesn’t stand a chance!”
It was 6:59 PM.
In the lounge, Clara and Michelle scrolled through Twitter on their phones, loving every second of Margaret getting bashed.
They even logged into their fake accounts to join in the hate.
Suddenly, Michelle frowned. “Clara, can you refresh your Twitter? Mine’s frozen.”
Clara tapped her screen, confused. “Mine too. It won’t load.”
At that exact moment, Twitter, short video apps, and all other popular platforms crashed.
TVs across Karemin went black. Radio stations fell silent. Digital billboards and landmark screens in every city went dark.
It was 7:00 PM sharp.
Every phone in Karemin-regardless of carrier-received a mysterious MMS at the same time.
Every TV, no matter the channel, showed the same scene,
Every radio played the same audio.

Every billboard displayed the same image.
The entire country was stunned.
The video on TVs, billboards, and screens showed two young women brutally torturing a small dog.

Back in the lounge, Clara and Michelle tossed their frozen phones onto the couch. They didn’t bother checking the new message.
Michelle kept ranting, “Clara, do you think this will make Margaret’s depression worse? I hope she kills herself soon. She’s such an eyesore.”
Clara’s eyes turned cold, but her voice stayed soft and innocent. “Michelle, don’t say that. It’s bad to curse someone.”
Michelle rolled her eyes, like she thought Clara was being too weak. “You’re too kind and nice, Clara. That’s how people take your things away. If it were me, I’d have someone kill that hick already.”
If a random woman showed up claiming to be her parents’ kid and tried to steal her fortune, Michelle would’ve had her killed on the spot.
“Forget it,” Michelle said. “Let’s not talk about that hick-it ruins the mood.”
Then she stared at Clara with her eyes sparkling. “Hey, have you adopted any strays lately? That hick made me so mad yesterday-I need to blow off steam.”
Clara nodded, her eyes lighting up. “Yeah, I got a few a couple days ago. Come over tomorrow.”
“I wanna torture that hick like I torture those cats and dogs,” Michelle snarled.
She jumped up suddenly. “Clara, let’s go back to the banquet. The reporters are probably still there. We can cry a little more and get more fans.”
From start to finish, neither of them touched their phones. They just walked out of the lounge like that.
They had no idea what was happening outside.
The banquet hall was down a long corridor.
Along the way, hotel staff and guests kept stopping to stare at them-whispering and pointing.
Clara and Michelle didn’t care. They just assumed people recognized them and were starstruck.
After all, their fame was through the roof now-they were just as popular as A-list celebrities,
