TRADING MY CHEATING HUSBAND FOR THE LYCAN KING novel Chapter 136

CHAPTER 91: THREE SLAPS1

EMBER’S POV

The crack of her palm against my cheek echoes through the silent room, and for a moment, everyone freezes.

Then I slap her back.

Harder than she hit me. Hard enough to snap her head to the side, hard enough to leave a red mark blooming across her cheek.

She gasps, hand flying to her face, eyes wide with shock.

That’s for every lie you told in that courtroom about me,” I say.

And I slap her again.

This one catches her off balance and she stumbles, grabbing the edge of the table to keep from falling.

That’s for selling me to a monster and expecting my gratitude.

I hit her a third time, and this one sends her to the floor.

She lands hard on her hands and knees, her expensive dress pooling around her, her carefully styled hair falling into her face.

She looks up at me with an expression I’ve never seen before not anger, not contempt, but genuine fear.

And that,I say, my voice steady even though

my hand is shaking, is for being the worst mother a daughter could ever have. You never deserved me. You never deserved any of it. And I hope you spend the rest of your miserable life knowing that.

The room is silent.

Knox is watching me with something like pride blazing in his eyes, a deep, longawaited satisfaction. An open admiration.

Logan looks stunned. This isn’t the Ember any one was accustomed to. Gale has gone pale, eyes flared wide, like he almost fears he’d be next. My father is crying openly, making no effort to hide it. Harrison….

Harrison is smiling.

Well,” he says, picking up his wine glass like nothing unusual has happened. That was certainly entertaining.”

My mother scrambles to her feet, mascara streaking down her cheeks, her carefully constructed facade crumbling into something ugly and raw.

She opens her mouth, probably to scream at me or curse me or launch into another tirade about what an ungrateful daughter I am, but Harrison holds up a single hand and she goes silent like someone cut her

strings.

Sit down, Devika,he says, and his voice is pleasant in that terrifying way. You’ve embarrassed yourself quite enough for one evening.

She sinks into her chair without a word, trembling with rage she doesn’t dare express.

Harrison turns his attention to Gale

Now then,” Harrison says, setting down his wine glass with deliberate precision. I believe we have one more matter to address before the evening concludes.”

Gale’s throat bobs as he swallows.

My son.Harrison says the words like they taste sour, like they’re something unpleasant he’s been forced

to acknowledge. You have brought tremendous shame upon this family. Your perversions have been

exposed for the entire world to see. Your marriage has ended in the most public and humiliating fashion possible. And now you sit before the woman you wronged for eight years, the woman whose life you systematically destroyed, and you have yet to offer her a single word of apology.

Gale’s jaw tightens, and I see a flash of the old defiance in his eyes the cruelty, the entitlement, the

absolute certainty that he is above consequences.
