TRADING MY CHEATING HUSBAND FOR THE LYCAN KING novel Chapter 54

CHAPTER 33: THE PROBLEM OF RAFAEL MONTENEGRO-2

The kind of Alpha who opens doors and remembers birthdays and makes women feel like they’re the only

person in the room.

When we’ve crossed paths at the same clubs, when we’ve occasionally both taken interest in the same woman, Rafael always wins the long game.

Women see me as the good time, the one-night stand, the orgasm they’ll remember fondly but never

repeat.

They see Rafael as boyfriend material. Husband material. Worth keeping.

It never mattered before. I didn’t want to be kept.

But now there’s Ember.

And I saw her face this morning. The flicker of hurt she tried to hide when I kissed her forehead with dismissal and turned away.

The way she squared her shoulders and walked out like she expected nothing from me.

I pushed her away on purpose. And now Rafael is circling like he scents wounded prey, and he knows, he fucking knows, that the more I push her away the more space I create for him to fill.

Rafael doesn’t actually want Ember.

He wants to prove a point. He wants to demonstrate that even this, this woman I can’t stop thinking about,

would choose someone else if given the option.

Someone warmer. Someone who doesn’t run hot and cold.

My wolf snarls at the thought.

“Send me the security footage,” I say, already moving toward the elevator. “And have her detail report

anything else he tries.”

“Already done,” Nathaniel says. “But Knox. He was smooth. She wouldn’t have seen it coming.”

Of course he was smooth. Rafael doesn’t do anything without precision. And if he cornered her in an elevator, that means he was already formulating his approach.

The thought makes me want to tear something apart.

I return to the penthouse at 3:47 PM, vibrating with a fury I can barely contain.

Anger at Rafael for touching what’s mine. Anger at myself for creating the opening.
