The next morning, Ivy woke up feeling sore from head to toe.
She let out a quiet groan, every muscle in her body protesting as she shifted beneath the blankets.
Last night, they had finally consummated their marriage, and from what she could remember, Xander hadn’t held back in the slightest.
Raven had always believed she had incredible stamina. She had survived countless dangerous missions, fought enemies twice her size, and endured injuries that would make most people collapse.
Yet she had been completely defeated by one man.
*"I seriously need to start working out,"* she thought with a sigh.
Slowly turning her head, she found Xander still asleep beside her.
One arm was wrapped securely around her waist as though he had no intention of letting her escape. His usually cold features looked unexpectedly peaceful, making him seem years younger.
A smile tugged at Ivy’s lips.
"You really went all out, didn’t you?" she murmured, gently tapping the tip of his nose.
Thinking back to the previous night, warmth spread across her cheeks.
It wasn’t just because they had become husband and wife in every sense. It was because Xander had never once rushed her. Throughout everything, he had been patient, gentle, and endlessly attentive, making sure she was comfortable every step of the way.
For the first time, Ivy truly understood what it meant to be loved.
She smiled softly.
From now on... I’ll love you just as much.
After lying there for another minute, she decided it was time to get up.
The moment she tried to sit up, a sharp ache shot through her legs.
"Ow!"
She immediately collapsed back onto the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
Good grief... I can’t even feel my legs.
Her eyes slowly drifted toward the peacefully sleeping culprit beside her.
Her expression darkened.
"It’s all your fault."
Without another word, she grabbed the nearest pillow and smacked it squarely across his face.
Thump!
"Wake up, you monster!"
Xander’s eyes flew open in confusion.
Before he could even figure out where he was—
Thump!
Another pillow landed on his head.
"..."
He blinked several times before looking at Ivy, whose cheeks were puffed up with indignation.
"What did I do?" he asked, his voice still thick with sleep.
"What did you do?" Ivy stared at him in disbelief. "You have the nerve to ask me that?"
Xander looked genuinely puzzled.
She pointed accusingly at her own legs.
"I can’t even stand!"
Realization slowly dawned on his face.
Instead of apologizing, the corners of his lips lifted into an infuriatingly handsome smile and that only made Ivy glare harder.
"Don’t you dare smile!"
"I wasn’t smiling."
"You absolutely were!"
"I wasn’t."
"You still are!"
A soft chuckle finally escaped him. "Ivy..."
"Don’t ’Ivy’ me." She folded her arms with all the dignity she could manage while remaining trapped in bed.
A few awkward seconds passed before her expression changed.
"...Actually."
"What is it?"
"I need to use the bathroom."
Xander waited. "So?"
"So don’t just sit there staring at me!" she huffed, her ears turning red. "Carry me to the bathroom!"
The command instantly wiped the amusement from his face.
Without saying another word, Xander climbed out of bed, walked over to her, and effortlessly scooped her into his arms.
Ivy instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Comfortable?" he asked with a teasing smile.
She glared at him.
"Not a single word."
Xander laughed softly as he carried his blushing wife toward the bathroom, silently deciding that waking up to an angry Ivy might become his favorite part of every morning.
***
By the time Ivy stepped out of the bathroom, Xander was nowhere to be seen.
She glanced around the spacious bedroom before making her way to the walk-in wardrobe. Instead of picking out one of her own outfits, she reached for one of Xander’s oversized black T-shirts.
The shirt hung loosely over her, almost reaching the middle of her thighs.
She looked at herself in the mirror and smiled.
"Not bad."
After tying her damp hair into a messy bun, she slowly made her way downstairs.
It was her first morning in the penthouse.
The place was quiet—far quieter than she had expected.
There were no servants moving about, no housekeepers dusting furniture, and no chefs preparing breakfast.
Ivy frowned.
"Where is everyone?"
She wandered through the living room, searching for Xander.
Just then, a rich, mouthwatering aroma drifted through the air.
Fresh butter...
Toasted bread...
Coffee...
And something sizzling in a pan.
Her stomach immediately growled. Without thinking, her feet carried her toward the kitchen on instinct.
The moment she reached the doorway, she froze.
Xander stood in front of the stove wearing dark lounge pants and a simple black T-shirt. One hand casually flipped an omelet while the other stirred something in a saucepan.
The sight was so unexpected that Ivy simply stared.
"...You’re cooking?"
Xander looked over his shoulder.
"I believe that’s what people call it."
She walked inside, still looking suspicious.
"I thought you hired people to do everything."
"I do."
"Then why are you cooking?"
He turned off the stove before answering.
"Because I wanted to."
Ivy blinked.
"You actually know how to cook?"
Xander raised an eyebrow.
"Is it really that shocking?"
"Very."
She leaned against the kitchen island, folding her arms.
