Xander had no idea how he managed to remain calm as he drove Ivy to the hospital.
His hands gripped the steering wheel so tightly that his knuckles had turned white.
The passenger seat was stained with blood.
Ivy had lost far too much of it.
She had started out conscious, trying to reassure him that she was fine, but the further they drove, the quieter she became. By the time they reached the hospital, she had stopped responding altogether.
Every second felt like an eternity.
The moment the car screeched to a halt outside the emergency entrance, doctors and nurses rushed over with a stretcher.
"She’s been stabbed!" Xander barked.
Medical staff immediately wheeled Ivy toward the emergency room while a doctor asked rapid-fire questions about her condition.
Xander followed without taking his eyes off her.
Just before the doors closed, Aaron arrived, already dressed in surgical scrubs after being called in from another department.
He stopped in front of Xander.
For a brief moment, neither of them spoke.
Then Xander finally broke the silence.
"Aaron."
His voice was frighteningly calm.
"I want my wife to walk out of that operating room alive."
Aaron met his gaze.
"I’ll do everything I can."
"You’d better."
Aaron gave a single nod before turning around and disappearing into the emergency room.
The doors shut.
The red operating light illuminated.
Silence filled the hallway.
Everything had happened so quickly.
Xander had been only a few steps away from Ivy, yet someone had still managed to reach her.
His expression gradually turned colder.
The warmth in his eyes disappeared, replaced by something terrifyingly empty.
Without another word, he pulled out his phone and dialed Hunter.
The call connected almost instantly.
"Boss."
"Find Florine."
That was all Xander said before ending the call.
He slipped the phone back into his pocket and walked away from the operating room.
His expression was so emotionless that every nurse he passed instinctively stepped aside.
It felt as though something far more dangerous than anger had taken over him.

Less than ten minutes later, Edward and Leo arrived at the hospital.
Edward’s breathing was uneven as he hurried down the corridor, while Leo struggled to keep up beside him.
"Where’s Ivy?" Edward asked the first person he recognized.
A nurse pointed toward the operating room.
"She’s still in surgery."
Edward let out a heavy sigh of relief, but his expression quickly changed when he looked around.
"Where’s Xander?"
No one answered.
Leo frowned.
"He was here, wasn’t he?"
Aaron’s assistant nodded.
"He left a few minutes ago."
Edward’s brows knitted together.
"He left?"
Knowing Xander, that made no sense.
There was no chance he would willingly leave Ivy while she was fighting for her life.
Unless...
Edward slowly closed his eyes.
"...He’s gone after the person responsible."
A heavy silence settled over everyone.
No one dared to say what they were all thinking.
Because if Xander had truly found the attacker...
They could only imagine what would happen next.
***
It took Hunter less than fifteen minutes to locate Florine.
She had made little effort to hide after the attack, convinced the chaos outside the studio had bought her enough time to escape.
She was wrong.
Hunter’s men found her in an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city.
Without giving her a chance to resist, they restrained her and brought her back to one of Blackwood Group’s underground holding cells.
Florine sat tied to a metal chair in the center of the dimly lit room.
Despite her situation, there wasn’t a trace of regret on her face.
Hunter stood a few feet away, silently watching her.
He knew exactly who this woman was.
Florine wasn’t just another enemy.
She was Ivy’s foster mother.
The very woman who had raised her.
Yet she had been the one to drive a knife into Ivy without hesitation.
Hunter had seen countless cruel people over the years.
Even so, he couldn’t understand how anyone could hurt the child they had once claimed to care for.
Veronica folded her arms, unable to hide the uneasiness on her face.
"What do you think is going to happen now?" she asked quietly.
Neither Hunter nor Derek answered.
She continued anyway.
"Did you hear how calm the boss sounded on the phone?"
Her voice grew softer.
"That wasn’t normal."
She had been standing beside Hunter when Xander called.
The moment Xander uttered Florine’s name, she had felt a chill run down her spine.
They all knew Xander could be ruthless toward his enemies.
But today was different.
This wasn’t about business.
It wasn’t revenge for himself.
Someone had nearly killed Ivy.
Hunter remained silent.
