Trapped in the Don’s Vow (Serena) novel Chapter 8

Chapter 8

“The whole city knows we were meant to be together since we were kids, Vincent insisted, crushing my wrist in his grip.

“Even the Moretti family can’t deny that.” he said. “And don’t worry about my standing. I won twelve major victories for the Gambini family. Don Moretti won’t dare come down on me too hard.”

He tried to drag me away.

Moretti security closed in around us.

Gambini Lorenzo said, “let go of my wife.”

1 struggled, but Vincent’s hand was a vise. “She’s mine,” he said. “You can’t change that.”

“Vincent, do you really think you’re irresistible?” I shot back. “I’m about to be the future lady of the Moretti family. Why would I throw that away for you?”

I tried to slap him, but he caught my wrist.

“Don’t do this. Serena,” he said tightly. “I know you’re just angry.”

Before he could say more, an aide announced, “Don Moretti has arrived.”

Vincent released me at last, unwillingly.

After hearing my account, Don Moretti fixed Vincent with a cold stare.

“Gambini.” Don said. “you brag about twelve victories. Fine.”

There’s a problem with the Bratva up on our northern border, near the Canadian line,” he continued. “If you can drive them back and take three key supply hubs for me, I’ll consider your request.”

Vincent’s face lit up. “You promise?”

Don’s smile was thin, and he glanced at his son. “My word is my bond.”

Vincent accepted the job and left.

My marriage to Lorenzo was put on hold-for the moment.

That night, Lorenzo escorted me back to the Ross) estate, and to my surprise, he seemed almost relaxed.

I teased him, “Aren’t you scared Vincent will come back for me if he succeeds?”

Lorenzo gently tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear. “Vincent’s arrogance bought him a lot of enemies

‘My father has wanted an excuse to cut the Gambini family down for years,” he said. “Whether Vincent wins or loses. their reign is already over.”

“He pushed you aside for an illegitimate daughter,” Lorenzo added. That was him signing his family’s death warrant with

his own hand

Staring at the man in front of me-cunning and powerful-I felt my heart stutter.

Three days before the wedding, he had come to see me.

“Serena,” he said, “tomorrow you’re supposed to marry Gambini. I know you love him, but I have to try”

I’ll announce that I’m dying.” he told me, and I’ll demand the Rossi family provide a bride so my funeral can go forward

“If Vincent rushes to marry you and protect you, I’ll never bother you again.”

Back then, I’d believed it without hesitation.

Vincent and I were unbreakable, and he would never abandon me for Isabella.

But reality hit like a bullet.

He didn’t marry me.

He sealed me into a coffin and delivered me to the Moretti family instead.

Lorenzo meant it.

I looked him straight in the eyes. “Without me, Vincent can’t win.”
