Rose had actually expected this.
In the heat of the moment, she hadn’t wanted to waste precious time on what Samantha imagined to be some sort of rivalry. She had acted with full awareness of the consequences.
So when she met Samantha’s cold, mocking gaze at that moment, Rose appeared much calmer.
She didn’t even bother looking at Ryan.
"It’s up to you," she said. "Call the police or file a lawsuit. If you need my ID number, you can ask your boss, Mr. Knight. He knows it."
After dropping those words, Rose turned and left.
She felt completely drained and wanted nothing more than to clean herself up.
However, Rose’s "unrepentant" attitude caused Samantha’s brows to knit tightly together, and an indescribable anger welled up inside her.
She had lost a great deal of face today.
And it had happened in front of so many professors, university officials, and students who might one day become her classmates if she succeeded in becoming Dr. Leo’s doctoral student.
Furthermore, Rose had undoubtedly made an excellent impression on the university leadership and distinguished herself in front of everyone.
The Taylor family would likely value Rose even more in the future.
The thought left Samantha feeling increasingly uneasy.
"Ryan, she doesn’t seem willing to apologize." Samantha took a deep breath, sounding both helpless and aggrieved. "I thought she would just apologize to me and we could put this behind us."
Only then did Ryan glance in Rose’s direction.
"Why don’t you go to the infirmary and apply an ice pack?" he said.
His concern immediately brightened Samantha’s expression. She glanced at the suit jacket Rose had thrown aside.
"It’s fine. It doesn’t hurt anymore. As long as Dr. Grace is okay, that’s all that matters." She lowered her eyes slightly. "It’s just a pity that I didn’t get to spend more time with him. And it’ll probably be difficult for me to come up with another good project anytime soon..."
"It won’t be difficult."
Ryan’s tone was casual as he walked over and picked up the jacket, his eyes dark and unreadable.
Samantha looked at him questioningly.

Rose returned to her nearby apartment.
Her skirt was torn, and her knees were scraped, so she needed to clean herself up before returning to work.
The hot water stung her wounds, causing her to shudder in pain.
Rose hissed softly a few times before gradually growing accustomed to the sting.
She hadn’t had time to treat the injuries after leaving the university, so after cleaning up, she returned to G.S.
Just as she was about to change into her lab coat, Caleb rushed in, slightly out of breath.
"Dr. Grace has stabilized," he said. "My father just called. Apparently, Dr. Grace has been working on a research project for the past month and has been pulling all-nighters. At his age, that’s simply too much."
Someone of Dr. Grace’s age should have retired long ago.
But with great power comes great responsibility.
The burden on his shoulders was immense, and he had devoted himself entirely to the nation’s medical advancement.
Rose quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
She was grateful that, for some reason, she had brought that bottle of pills with her today.
It contained several rare, high-grade medicinal herbs ground into powder and formulated specifically for conditions like this. The effectiveness was comparable to a stroke medication currently selling domestically for more than a thousand dollars per pill.
Had she not brought the medicine, Dr. Grace’s condition might have become far more critical.
"Do you realize how famous you’ve become?" Caleb finally caught his breath, grinning from ear to ear. "You’re a hero. Dr. Grace isn’t an ordinary figure—he’s one of the pillars of the medical community. By saving him, you’ve practically secured another decade of progress for our field. News of what you did has already spread throughout the university and the medical community."
Rose had become a genuine rising star.
"And that medicine you gave Dr. Grace—the hospital says the results were remarkable. They’ll probably want to know exactly what it is. I wouldn’t be surprised if NYU reaches out to you soon."
"It’s a formula I developed myself," Rose said. "I’ve never made it public."
"That’s even better. I think the focus will shift to that medication next. Barring any surprises, it’ll probably be officially recorded and evaluated."
Caleb was in excellent spirits.
He could already imagine Rose’s brilliant future.
Saving Dr. Grace alone was enough to earn recognition and commendation from the higher authorities.
Combined with her medical skills and her proprietary formula, the higher-ups would likely spend considerable time discussing how to reward her.
But Rose was already an exceptionally appointed associate professor. There was hardly anywhere left to promote her.
The question now was simply how they intended to recognize her contributions.
Rose, however, wasn’t particularly concerned about any of that.
She hadn’t been thinking about rewards while saving a life.
Especially not when it came to Dr. Grace—a remarkable woman who had devoted her life to medicine.
