Samantha’s words trailed off.
For a moment, Rose almost thought she had misheard.
Samantha raised an eyebrow and smiled. "A substantial investment would make me a shareholder of G.S. I could also contribute to the company’s future growth. Would you consider it, Mr. Byrne?"
In fact, she believed there was nothing to consider.
She was bringing capital to the table. There was no reason for them to refuse.
Originally, she had planned to invest directly in G.S.’s newly launched tumor-surgery robotic system.
However, that approach would make her intentions seem too obvious.
Taking a more indirect route would be better.
She would simply purchase shares in the company.
That way, she could still benefit from G.S.’s successful device.
At the same time, it would help offset the recent scandal surrounding her failed project.
Effectively, she would gain another successful "project" to add to her résumé.
After all, success here would benefit everyone.
Even the research team behind the device would have no reason to object. Why turn down an opportunity that could work to everyone’s advantage?
"You’re certainly bold," Rose said, her cold, striking eyes sharp.
She hadn’t expected Samantha to be so shameless.
After failing on her own, Samantha was now trying to ride on the success of Rose’s project. Afraid she wouldn’t be allowed to invest midway through development, she had instead come directly to negotiate for shares in the company.
She wanted to use Rose’s already successful project to enhance her own reputation and rebuild public support.
When Rose spoke, Samantha’s expression darkened.
"This doesn’t concern you."
She couldn’t understand why Caleb continually allowed Rose to interfere in the company’s core matters.
Even if Rose was currently a major contributor, that didn’t justify her arrogance.
"It seems your entire philosophy revolves around taking shortcuts," Rose said calmly. "Whether it’s stealing a married man or rushing to profit from someone else’s achievements. What is it? Are you incapable of standing on your own without resorting to manipulation, taking what belongs to others, and demanding handouts? Must you always kneel and beg for what you want?"
Rose had no intention of tolerating Samantha’s arrogance.
Her voice remained calm, but every word cut like a knife.
Samantha’s expression changed.
The single sentence hurt far more than the slap she had received that morning.
Rose left her no room to retreat.
Not a single curse had been spoken, yet every word stung.
Ryan, who had been sitting quietly with his usual composed demeanor, finally turned his gaze toward Rose.
It seemed to be because of the words "a married man."
A faint, unreadable smile appeared at the corner of his lips as he asked in an emotionless voice, "What does President Byrne think?"
He neither refuted Rose’s words nor objected to them.
Watching Ryan openly side with Samantha, Rose suddenly let out a cold laugh.
What gave Samantha the confidence to demand shares in G.S. today?
Without Ryan’s backing and guidance, how could she possibly act with such arrogance?
Ryan had come today to seek justice for Samantha.
His goal was to make Samantha a shareholder, place her above Rose, and help her recover her dignity.
Perhaps Ryan cared more about the slap Rose had given Samantha than Samantha herself did.
Caleb had grown tired of the entire situation.
As the only true outsider, he saw everything clearly.
Rose had been abandoned by both her husband and his mistress.
Under normal circumstances, he might have carefully considered the proposal from a business perspective.
But this woman had humiliated Rose.
"I’m sorry, Mr. Knight," Caleb said calmly. "I can’t agree to that. I don’t make decisions for G.S. alone. There are many shareholders, and none of them want to disturb the company’s current stability."
There was nothing more to say.
Samantha was stunned.
She found it difficult to believe.
She had come with complete sincerity and had even implied that she could pursue Rose for assault.
And yet he still refused.
