“I’m glad to hear that. Seeing you regain your strength bit by bit is a relief,” Arabella replied.

“Dr. Macdonald, Matthew hasn’t been feeling well today. Would you mind taking a look at him?” Robert asked.

Arabella glanced at Matthew. “What seems to be the trouble, Mr. Stewart?”

“It’s nothing serious. Just a bit of a cough. No examination needed,” Matthew said, just before another brief cough escaped him.

Robert looked at him with concern. “You say it’s nothing, yet you can’t stop coughing.”

“Dr. Macdonald, please don’t mind him. Would you check him over?” Robert insisted, ignoring Matthew’s protest.

“Of course,” Arabella agreed.

Under Robert’s watchful eye, Matthew had little choice but to relent.

“How long has the cough been bothering you?” Arabella asked, taking a seat beside him and gently checking his pulse at the wrist.

It was the first time Matthew had been this close to Arabella, face–to–face. He couldn’t help but notice the fine, clear features of her face–a kind of freshness he hadn’t seen in others.

When he didn’t answer immediately, Arabella prompted him. “Mr. Stewart?”

“About a day,” Matthew replied, refocusing.

He hadn’t really tracked when it started.

“Is your throat sore?” she continued.

“A little.”

“It’s not serious. I’ll write a prescription. Take it as directed, and you should recover in a few days,” Arabella said with assurance after finishing her examination. Though he had a cold, his vital signs were strong and steady.

“Alright.”

Hearing her diagnosis, Robert visibly relaxed.

He then turned to Matthew. “You need to look after your own health as well. Delegate more

Robert’s gaze was full of grandfatherly care. Matthew was his only grandson, and he didn’t want him running himself ragged.

“Dr. Macdonald, is your mentor still very busy these days?” Robert asked, turning back to Arabella.

Although Robert had great confidence in Arabella’s skills, he still hoped to meet the renowned Aletta in person.

After all, if Aletta had trained Arabella so well, she must be a remarkable figure.

“Constantly busy,” Arabella replied.

“I see… Where does he primarily practice?” Robert pressed.

“My mentor prefers not to be tied down. He travels often and doesn’t stay in one place for long, so I’m not sure of his current whereabouts, Arabella explained, offering a plausible

excuse.

She couldn’t very well materialize a famous physician out of thin air.

“I understand…” Robert said, a faint frown of disappointment crossing his face.

It seemed meeting the celebrated Aletta would be difficult.

“Dr. Macdonald, if you are in contact with your mentor, please let him know I would be honored to host him for a modest dinner,” Robert said kindly.

“I’ll certainly pass along your invitation.

“You should rest now. I’ll take my leave if there’s nothing else,” Arabella said, rising to go.

“Matthew, see Dr. Macdonald out,” Robert instructed.

Matthew walked Arabella into the corridor.

“There’s no need. You should stay with Robert,” Arabella said.

“Dr. Macdonald, if your brother requires any assistance, please don’t hesitate to let me know,” Matthew said, his expression neutral.

Arabella’s brow furrowed slightly. “How do you know he’s my brother? Have you been looking into me?”
