Inside Arabella’s car, Florence turned to her daughter. “Arabella, I didn’t get a proper chance to ask earlier with everyone around–is everything alright? You haven’t run into any trouble, have you?”

“No, of course not. Why would you think that, Mom?” Arabella glanced at Florence, slightly surprised.

“Well, just a few days ago you were driving that lovely sports car Ethan gave you. What prompted the sudden switch to something so… understated?” Florence inquired, her expression one of gentle concern.

“As I said, I simply prefer this car. It’s really that straightforward. Please don’t worry. Nothing is wrong,” Arabella reassured her with a warm look.

“I believe you, darling. But remember, no matter what happens, you don’t have to face anything alone. Your father and I are always here. You can talk to us about anything,” Florence reminded her affectionately.

Arabella smiled softly. “Okay, I will.”

Florence’s thoughts then drifted to another topic. “Arabella, was Matthew present during your sessions treating Robert?”

Arabella answered without much thought. “Yes, he usually was. Why do you ask?”

“Is he as inundated with work as ever?” Florence probed casually.

“I couldn’t say for certain how busy his schedule is, but he was there nearly every time I visited Robert,” Arabella replied offhandedly.

“Oh? So the two of you have been seeing quite a bit of each other,” Florence remarked, a faint,
