Chapter 213 An Unexpected Visitor
Andy gave a confirming nod.
“No wonder…” Matthew said, the words heavy with implication.

He immediately recalled Arabella’s visit to his office for his treatment and how she had praised her instructor as being highly skilled.
Then, thinking back to their interaction at the hospital–they hadn’t looked like mere acquaintances at all–his expression cooled considerably.
It seemed Arabella and that Myers guy were on fairly good terms…
Noting the shift in Matthew’s demeanor, Andy wondered if he’d overstepped by sharing the detail.
“Put together a selection of high–quality wellness gifts. You’re accompanying me to Cloudrise Manor,” Matthew announced suddenly, deciding to pay Arabella a visit at home.
Hearing the instruction, Andy was briefly surprised but quickly recovered. “Right away.”
Out on the balcony, Arabella and Alfred were deep in conversation when Ethan knocked and entered. Seeing Alfred there, he asked, “What’s got you two so engrossed?”
“Catching up on the latest family drama, more like,” Arabella added, glancing at Ethan.
“Perfect timing. I’ll join you,” Ethan said, walking over with a bottle of wine in hand.
“Arabella can’t drink.” Alfred pointed out, looking at the bottle.
“I’m aware. This is for you and me,” Ethan replied, raising an eyebrow.
“So I just have to sit here and watch?” Arabella said, eyeing him.
“Of course not. I brought juice for you,” Ethan said with a smile, handing her a glass. He hadn’t forgotten about her.
“That’s more like it,” Arabella said, accepting the drink and taking a sip.
“Who would’ve thought a family like the Macdonalds could cause so much drama. Serves them right for going under,” Alfred remarked, his tone thick with disdain.
“And with you taking care of Freya’s leg issue, I can finally breathe a little easier,” Arabella said, allowing herself to relax slightly.
“If you’d filled me in sooner, Carter wouldn’t have gotten off so lightly either,” Alfred grumbled, clearly annoyed he hadn’t been
involved.
“It’s fine. Think of it as leaving someone in that family to handle the fallout. With Freya hospitalized–and given how much she thrives on chaos–Carter’s in for a world of trouble,” Arabella said, her tone knowing as she looked between them.
“But Freya’s at Kindwell Hospital too. Edward’s bound to find out eventually. How are you planning to explain it to him?” Ethan asked, his gaze steady.
“I’ll just tell him the truth. Edward knows exactly what Carter and Freya are like. He’ll understand,” Arabella said casually, showing

She was confident in Edward’s loyalty. If it came down to a conflict with the Macdonalds, he’d side with her.
“Well, that simplifies things. Now we don’t have to find another hospital just to avoid them. We’ll stick with Kindwell tomorrow,” Ethan said, sounding relieved.
Just then, Ethan’s phone buzzed. He checked the screen–it was Jonathan.
“Hey, Dad.”
“Let Arabella know Matthew is on his way over to see her. You should all come downstairs.” Jonathan’s voice came through.
“Matthew? Okay, we’ll be right down,” Ethan replied before ending the call.
“What is it?” Arabella asked, her expression turning serious at the mention of the name.
“Dad said Matthew’s coming to see you and wants us all downstairs,” Ethan relayed calmly.
“Matthew’s coming here? To see me? Are you sure you heard that right?” Arabella looked at Ethan in disbelief.
“Positive. Call Dad yourself if you don’t believe me.”
“Never mind. Let’s just go down,” Arabella said, her face settling into a neutral mask.
Alfred looked at Arabella with intense curiosity. “Arabella, why would Matthew suddenly show up to see you? What’s the story between you two?”
He felt like he’d missed several chapters while he was away.
“Don’t look at me like that. There’s no ‘story‘. At most, I’m just his and his grandfather’s physician,” Arabella stated earnestly.
“If I remember correctly, you were only Mr. Stewart’s doctor. When did you start treating Matthew too?” Ethan asked, his curiosity piqued.
“Once, while I was treating his grandfather, Matthew wasn’t feeling well, so Mr. Stewart asked me to take a look. That’s when Matthew… sort of latched onto me,” Arabella explained, a hint of resignation in her voice. She also remembered what Florence had shared about Matthew’s childhood. A part of her agreement had been out of sympathy.
After hearing her explanation, Ethan’s tone turned protective. “That Matthew–with all the private physicians at his disposal, he still insists on you? Seems I’ll need to have a word with him.”
His sister wasn’t someone to be casually summoned.
“It’s fine, really. He let all his other doctors go. It’s… a little sad, actually. And it’s not like I’m doing it for free–his consultation fee is quite substantial,” Arabella said with a slight, wry smile.
“Arabella, I know you’re just too polite to refuse. Let me handle this. Our family certainly doesn’t need his money,” Ethan insisted, convinced she was just being accommodating.
“Yeah, we’ll talk to him. Don’t feel pressured just because he’s some hotshot CEO. You’re the Hamilton family’s treasure–your standing is every bit as high as his,” Alfred chimed in, his eyes full of brotherly affection as he praised her.
“Treasure?” Arabella looked at Alfred, a faint, amused frown creasing her brow. Using a word like that to describe her… really?

I started the novel with great interest. In the beginning the storyline was captivating. Then I feel that the more the story advances, the twists were no longer great. Moreover I don't like Arabella s personality, cold, distant......
