Chapter 344 Ruby’s Feigned Reconciliation
Was she actually turning over a new leaf?
Liam was quite pleased with Ruby’s attitude and gave an approving nod. “That’s more like it.”
“Ruby, come sit down,” Naomi said, giving Ruby’s sleeve a gentle tug.

Instead, Ruby shook her head and continued, “Arabella, thank you for saving me. I also want to apologize for how I acted before. I was really immature, always picking arguments with you. I hope you can forgive me.”
‘Mm,” Arabella responded indifferently.
She was a little surprised by the shift in Ruby’s demeanor, but it didn’t matter much to her.
‘Arabella, are you still mad at me?” Ruby bit her lip, her eyes filling with anxious concern.
‘No. It’s in the past,” Arabella replied coolly.
A look of relief washed over Ruby’s face. “I’m so glad you’ve forgiven me. I promise I’m going to be different from now on.”
‘That’s fine. Have a seat,” Arabella said, not wanting to expend any more energy on small talk with Ruby.
‘Thank you, Arabella.” Only then did Ruby take a seat.
Naomi sat down beside her, studying Ruby with a puzzled look.
Ruby gave a barely perceptible shake of her head and then lowered her gaze, putting on a convincingly meek act.
‘Florence, we truly are indebted to Arabella this time. Without her, we wouldn’t have known what to do,” Sophia said earnestly.
Even though she wasn’t always the strictest with Ruby, it wasn’t from a lack of care. Seeing her daughter so ill had worried her deeply.
‘Please, don’t mention it. We’re all family. Arabella was happy to help,” Florence said warmly.
‘That’s right, Aunt Sophia. Really, don’t think twice about it–we’re family,” Arabella chimed in.
She had always liked her uncle and aunt, so she naturally felt a sense of closeness.
‘You should all stay for dinner tonight,” Jonathan suggested.
‘We’d love to,” Liam agreed. “We’ll eat here tonight, but tomorrow, dinner is on me at that nice restaurant downtown.”
Jonathan smiled. “We’ll definitely be there.”
“If Uncle’s buying, we absolutely have to go,” Ethan added with a laugh.
Liam shot him a playful look. “What, am I known for being cheap?”
“Of course not. It’s just that you are always so busy–we’re lucky to see you a few times a year, let alone share a meal,” Ethan replied smoothly.

“Yeah, right, kid,” Liam said with a mock huff.

The atmosphere was cheerful as everyone chatted and laughed through a pleasant dinner together.
Later, Liam turned to Jonathan. “Jonathan, there are a few business matters I wanted to run by you.”
Jonathan stood up. “Let’s talk in the study.”
“Alright.” Liam followed Jonathan out of the dining room.
“Sophia, come on. Let’s have some fruit while the men talk,” Florence said, leading the way to the living room.
“Sure,” Sophia agreed, following her.
Naomi nudged Ruby along. “Mom, Aunt Sophia, I’m going to take Ruby up to my room to show her this new outfit I bought.”
“Go ahead,” Florence said. Since the two sisters often did this, she didn’t think anything of it.
Ruby glanced at her mother. “Mom, I’ll just go take a quick look and be right back down.”
“No problem, sweetie. Go ahead,” Sophia replied.
Watching the two head upstairs, Arabella turned to Ethan. “I’m going to take my things up to my room.”
“Let me help you with those,” Ethan offered, picking up the shopping bags.
“Mom, Aunt Sophia, we’re heading upstairs,” Ethan announced.
“Alright, you two go ahead. We’ll be right here,” Florence and Sophia replied.
“Here, have some fruit,” Florence said, pushing the fruit plate toward Sophia.
“You have some too,” Sophia responded.
As the two sisters settled in, Sophia sighed contentedly. “Honestly, Liam and I have just been so swamped. Ruby ends up bothering you all the time. It’s a good thing Naomi is here to keep her company so she doesn’t get too lonely. And now with Arabella here too, the house just keeps getting livelier. It’s really wonderful.”
“I know what you mean. The kids growing up together and looking out for each other makes everything easier for us, too.”
Upstairs, Ethan and Arabella reached her bedroom door.
“I can take the bags from here, Ethan,” Arabella said.
“You must be tired after today. Try to get some rest early,” Ethan reminded her gently.
Arabella smiled. “You get some rest early too.”
Back in her room, Arabella put her things away, took a shower, and then opened her laptop, pulling up a design file to sketch.
