“Yeah, and once I have my license, I won’t need to come for training anymore.” For her, that would be crossing a major thing off her
list.
“So after you get it, you’re not coming back to the academy at all?” Lucas asked, a note of reluctance creeping into his voice.
Arabella nodded. “Right. Once I have the license, there’s really no reason to.”
She frowned slightly, giving him a puzzled look. “What’s up with you today? Why are you asking all these weird questions?”
Lucas shrugged, looking a little deflated. “I don’t know. It just hit me that I’m not going to get used to you not being around.”
Arabella blinked, surprised. “You can’t be serious. You’ve been an instructor for years. I thought you’d be used to people moving on by now.”
Lucas looked at her, his gaze lingering. The only one he’d miss was her.
“Come on, don’t get all sentimental. New students will be here before you know it. This place is always going to have people coming and going,” Arabella said, trying to lighten the mood.
“Arabella, after you leave, we’re still friends, right?” Lucas asked, his eyes earnest.
“Of course.” She smiled warmly. “Once you’re a friend, you’re a friend for life.”
Lucas‘ face brightened. “Then I can still come visit you sometime?”
“Sure. We still haven’t gone painting together like we talked about.” Arabella’s tone was cheerful. “When we get a chance, let’s do that.”
Lucas nodded. “Yeah, it’s a deal.”
Even if she stopped coming to the academy, he could still see her–that was what mattered.
“Alright, let’s get back to training,” Arabella said, turning her attention to the plane for takeoff.
She’d already become highly proficient, and Lucas no longer needed to give her instructions. He just watched her procedures and technique quietly, getting her ready for solo flight.
After several smooth laps, Arabella brought the plane in for a landing.
“Well done. Once you clock your required hours, you’ll be ready to go up on your own,” Lucas said, his eyes smiling
Arabella’s eyes lit up. “I can’t wait.”
“Don’t rush it. You’ll get there soon enough.”
“Mm–hmm.”
After parking the plane, they got out and walked toward the lounge.
Lucas‘ phone rang. He declined the call.

A text came through right after. He glanced at it but didn’t reply.
“If you’ve got something to handle, go ahead. I’ll rest a bit and then head out,” Arabella offered.
“It’s nothing important,” Lucas said, just as his phone rang again.
With a resigned sigh, he picked up. “Come on, I told you, I’m not going.”
“I know. Just drop it.” He hung up again.
Arabella looked at him curiously. “Everything okay?”
He seemed a little annoyed–what was going on?

“Nothing, really. My mom wants me to go to some event tonight, but I just can’t deal with all that social stuff.” He turned to Arabella. “Where are you headed later? I can give you a ride.”
“Don’t worry about it. I’ll just book a car.”
“But I’m leaving anyway–it’s on the way,” Lucas insisted.
Hearing that, Arabella agreed, “Alright, sure. I was thinking of stopping by my brother’s place first.”
‘Edward’s office? Works for me.” Lucas nodded.
With that, they left the flight school together.
Soon, they arrived at Macdonald Capital.
Lucas walked with Arabella up to Edward’s office.
‘Arabella? Lucas? What brings you two here?” Edward looked pleasantly surprised. “Come in, have a seat.”
‘Just wanted to see how you’re doing.” Arabella smiled. “How’ve things been lately?”
‘Smooth sailing.” Edward called out to his assistant. “Carol, can we get some coffee in here?”
His secretary, Carol Atkins, responded from outside, “Right away, Mr. Macdonald”
A moment later, Carol brought in the coffee and left.
“It’s almost noon. Let’s grab lunch together,” Edward suggested.
“Yes!” Lucas jumped in immediately. “My treat.”
Edward laughed. “You’re my guest–I can’t let you pay.”
He turned to Arabella. “Lunch is on me today.”
Arabella raised an eyebrow. “You’re in a good mood. Something happened?”
“Nothing gets past you.” Edward grinned. “That project I collaborated on with your brother Ethan? It got approved without any issues and is officially up and running.”

“That’s great news,” Arabella said, genuinely pleased.
This wasn’t just some small project Ethan had helped with. Now that it was running smoothly, Edward’s company would be on solid ground, and she could finally stop worrying.
“I thought about inviting Ethan too, but knowing how busy he is, I didn’t want to bother him,” Edward added. He knew Ethan had only helped because of Arabella.
“That’s fine. I’ll let him know when I get home and pass along your thanks. He’ll be happy for you too,” Arabella said warmly.
“Good. Please do thank him properly for me.”
“I will.” Arabella nodded.
Edward turned to her. “So, what are you in the mood for?”
“Anything close by works. It’s not about the food–it’s about having the meal with you,” Arabella smiled.

I started the novel with great interest. In the beginning the storyline was captivating. Then I feel that the more the story advances, the twists were no longer great. Moreover I don't like Arabella s personality, cold, distant......
