Chapter 452 A Drink of Water
Matthew lowered his gaze and said quietly, “Andy, please escort the designer to the conference room.”
“Yes,” Andy replied, then guided Colton out of the office.
Colton walked into the conference room looking completely lost. “So… what exactly am I supposed to be designing?”
“Here are the materials. Please take a look,” Andy said, handing him a folder.
“When do you need it by?” Colton asked.
Andy raised an eyebrow, slightly surprised. “Aren’t you going to review it first?”
With a touch of pride, Colton replied, “Don’t worry. We–I mean, I can handle any kind of design.”
Andy gave him a curious look. “We‘?”
“Oh, I have an assistant. If it’s a tight deadline, she can pitch in too,” Colton quickly covered.
“I see,” Andy said, not pressing further. “It’s not urgent. Just reach out once you’re done.”
“Alright then,” Colton said, tucking the folder under his arm. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll get going.”
Andy nodded. “Let me walk you out.”
“No need–you must be busy. I can find my way,” Colton insisted, shaking his head.
Still, Andy accompanied him to the elevator before returning to Matthew’s office.
“Mr. Stewart, he’s left,” Andy reported.
“Mm,” Matthew acknowledged without looking up, already reaching for the next file on his desk.
Seeing there were no further instructions, Andy quietly stepped out.
After finishing one report, Matthew checked the time and frowned.

“What on earth is she doing?” She’d mentioned having personal matters to attend to, but were they really more important than getting set up?
The thought made his expression darken even more.
Downstairs at Horizon Corp, Colton slid into his car and let out a long sigh of relief.
He patted his chest, calming his nerves, then called Arabella.
“How’d it go?” she asked immediately.
“He was suspicious, but I had an excuse ready. Everything’s fine now,” Colton replied, a hint of pride in his voice.
“Good. That’s a relief,” Arabella said.

“But there’s actual work this time–I took the job. I’ll bring the materials over later,” Colton told her.
Arabella thought for a moment. “Okay. I’m at the pharmaceutical lab. Meet me for lunch–my treat.”
“Sounds great,” Colton agreed cheerfully.
‘Foodie,” Arabella teased lightly.
“We’ll talk more over lunch,” Colton said before hanging up.
Arabella shrugged to herself.

She knew once Matthew grew suspicious, he wouldn’t let it go easily. But since Colton showed up today and smoothed things over, t should be okay for now.
Tucking her phone away, she adjusted her hair and got back to work.
Before she knew it, the sun was high overhead.
The midday heat was intense. Arabella paused to wipe the sweat from her forehead with the back of her sleeve.
Seeing the herb cultivation area was more than halfway planted, with only a small section left, she encouraged herself, “Almost done… come on.”
She picked up her small trowel and resumed working, breathing heavily under the warm air.
Matthew arrived and spotted her from a distance.
Arabella wore a wide–brimmed sun hat and a simple canvas apron, kneeling among the plants as she worked. Even with gardening gloves on, her hands moved skillfully, carefully using the trowel with focused attention.
From afar, she looked like some kind of garden sprite–a sight that was hard to look away from.
Under the blazing sun, she kept lifting her arm now and then to wipe away sweat.
‘Have some water.” A calm voice said suddenly, and a bottle of cold water appeared in front of her.
Arabella stilled for a second before looking up into Matthew’s deep, steady eyes.
Mr. Stewart… what are you doing here?” she asked, genuinely surprised.
Just wanted to see what personal matter was so important,” Matthew replied, a touch of irritation in his tone.
Arabella’s lips twitched. Did he always have to say things like that?
He looked so handsome–it was just too bad he actually spoke.
she accepted the water, took a sip, and said matter–of–factly, “See? This is it. Very important.”
She stressed very important, making it clear she hadn’t simply forgotten their arrangement.

I started the novel with great interest. In the beginning the storyline was captivating. Then I feel that the more the story advances, the twists were no longer great. Moreover I don't like Arabella s personality, cold, distant......
