Chapter 463 Family Discussion
“So what’s really going on with her?” Ethan asked, throwing a glance toward Arabella.
He recalled Arabella mentioning before that Ruby would eventually come crawling back to ask for her help.
“It’s basically neurasthenia,” Arabella replied with a casual shrug.
“So she doesn’t have a psychiatric condition?” Florence’s eyes visibly relaxed with relief.
“A mental illness?” The Hamiltons looked startled. “Did the doctors say that?”

Florence shook her head. “Not in so many words. They just said if nothing else works, they might have to recommend a psych evaluation.
“Since Ruby keeps complaining about hearing noises at night, the doctors thought it could be auditory hallucinations stemming from a psychological issue.”
“I see.” Jonathan nodded. “Well, if Arabella says it’s not that, then it’s not.”
“Thank goodness,” Florence breathed out, finally letting herself feel reassured.
As long as it wasn’t a mental health disorder, anything else could be managed with time and treatment.
“Arabella, is Ruby going to recover?” Ethan pressed.
“Whether she gets better or not is up to her,” Arabella said calmly.
Frank looked puzzled. “What does that mean?”
“I told her she’d have to ask me for help eventually, but she insisted she never would,” Arabella explained. “So her recovery depends entirely on her own choice.”
Frank frowned in disbelief. “That doesn’t make any sense. Why wouldn’t she ask you?”
“She just doesn’t want to lower herself in front of me, that’s all. In her eyes, I’m just some country bumpkin,” Arabella said, her tone indifferent.
And Ruby saw herself as a refined socialite–how humiliating would it be to beg someone she looked down on for help?
“That’s just pride getting in the way of common sense,” Frank remarked dismissively. “What matters more, your health or your ego?”
“Depends on the person,” Arabella replied simply. Then she stood up to ladle out the soup.
After serving everyone a bowl, she took her seat again.
“Alright, let’s drop the subject,” Florence said warmly. “Everyone’s hungry–let’s eat.”
Now that she knew Ruby’s situation wasn’t as dire as she’d feared, and there was still room for things to turn around, her mind was completely at ease.
“Arabella, try some of this.”

“And this–it’s all your favorites.”
They enjoyed the rest of the meal in good spirits, and no further unpleasant topics came up.
After dinner, everyone headed upstairs to their own rooms.
Arabella put away the emerald pendant Frank had given her, then settled down at her desk and opened her laptop.
She pulled up the documents Andy had sent over about Colton and began reviewing them carefully.

“No wonder they’re Horizon Corp–acquiring another company this quickly, and one with such promising prospects…” she murmured to herself, impressed. Soon, she was immersed in sketching out design concepts.
The next morning, sunlight streamed brightly through the windows.
After getting ready for the day, Arabella came downstairs dressed in casual clothes.
Florence’s eyes lit up when she saw her. “You’re heading to the flight academy today, right?”
“Yeah, Mom, I’ve got a lesson scheduled,” Arabella said as she took a seat at the table.
“Morning, Dad, Frank, Ethan,” she greeted the others.
“Want me to drive you?” Ethan offered.
“I’m good–I’ll take my own car,” Arabella replied, shaking her head lightly.
“So how’s the flight training coming along?” Jonathan asked conversationally.
Arabella smiled. “Last time, Lucas said I’m a quick learner and might even get my license ahead of schedule.”
“That’s our girl,” Jonathan said, his voice full of pride.
“Well, go on and get your practice in. I’ll make something special for dinner tonight,” Florence promised with a gentle smile.
“Thanks, Mom!” Arabella beamed.
“Don’t mention it, sweetie. Now finish your breakfast,” Florence urged affectionately.
Once they were done, the family gradually made their way out of Cloudrise Manor.
Arabella drove straight to the flight academy.
As soon as she stepped onto the grounds, she spotted Lucas glancing around as if searching for someone.
“Lucas, what’s up?” Arabella called over curiously.
Hearing her voice, he hurried toward her, a hint of eagerness in his expression. “There you are.”
“Everything okay?” Arabella asked, a little confused.
Realizing he might have seemed overly enthusiastic, Lucas quickly toned it down. “Oh–it’s just, you’ve been so tied up lately. asked about scheduling a lesson a few times and you kept saying you were swamped.”
