“We’ll see when the time comes.” Arabella didn’t feel like saying more and ended the call.
After putting her phone away, she leaned back in her chair, but her thoughts kept drifting to Matthew.

“What kind of event does he need a date for so badly? Hasn’t he always been the picture of the ultimate bachelor–eligible and untouchable? Why the sudden change of heart?” She couldn’t make sense of it and finally let out a quiet sigh.
Oh well, I’ll just have to see what he’s up to.
On the other side of town, when Matthew returned to the car, his mood seemed noticeably lighter.
Andy quietly breathed a sigh of relief and asked, “Back to the office, Mr. Stewart?”
“Yes,” Matthew replied.
As the car pulled into traffic, Matthew added, “Set something up with Kerry. I need a fitting tomorrow evening.”
“Understood,” Andy replied.
“And tell her to prepare a selection of women’s evening wear as well,” Matthew said casually.
“Women’s clothing?” Andy paused for a second before it clicked.
No wonder Mr. Stewart is in a better mood. He must have convinced Dr. Hamilton to be his plus–one.
Feeling like the next few days might go a lot smoother, Andy allowed himself a small smile.
“What are you grinning about?” Matthew frowned, his tone cooling again.
“Nothing. Just… glad things are working out,” Andy said, quickly straightening his expression.
Matthew shot him a sidelong glance. “How’s my grandfather doing?”
“He’s been fine. No issues reported,” Andy answered.
Matthew’s eyes narrowed slightly, a hint of suspicion in his gaze. “That’s all?”
Something felt off.
“Yes,” Andy said. “Are you concerned about his health, Mr. Stewart?”
Given how upset the old man had been when Matthew left yesterday, it wouldn’t be surprising it
Matthew didn’t answer directly “Tell the housekeeper to check in on him more often
“Will do,” Andy nodded.
Looks like Mr. Stewart is wormed about him ofter att
Matthew turned his gaze to the window, his expression thoughtful

His grandfather had always been so insistent about the arrangement with the Hamiltons. So why was he being so unusually quie now that he knew Arabella was seeing someone? It wasn’t like him.
Could it be that Grandfather only objects to me breaking it off–but doesn’t mind if the Hamiltons do?
By sunset, when Arabella returned to Cloudrise Manor, she noticed two unfamiliar cars in the driveway and raised an eyebrow
“Well, this is unexpected,” she murmured to herself. After parking, she stepped out and took a closer look at the vehicles before heading inside.
The living room was full. The couches were occupied with family.
“Mom, Dad. Uncle, Aunt,” Arabella greeted as she walked over.
She nodded toward her cousins. “Frank, Ethan. Didn’t expect to see you both here.”
Then her gaze swept briefly over Naomi and Ruby, and she almost imperceptibly lifted a brow.
“Arabella,” Naomi said, forcing a polite tone.
“Naomi, why are you being so nice to her?” Ruby glared at Arabella and blurted out, “Arabella, are you the reason Aletta won’t tak my case?”
“What case?” Arabella replied flatly.
“Don’t act innocent. If you hadn’t interfered, I’m sure she would’ve accepted,” Ruby snapped, her voice tight with frustration.
“Aletta picks her cases based on her own judgment. Maybe she’s just not taking new patients right now. You can’t blame me for that,” Arabella said coolly.
“Who would believe that? She’s your mentor. All you’d have to do is say the word, and she’d turn me down,” Ruby accused bitterly
Arabella shrugged. “Believe what you want.”
Whether you do or not, it’s no skin off my back.
“You-!” Ruby’s eyes reddened with anger, and she stood up abruptly.
“Sit down, Ruby,” Liam said sternly. “Talk this through calmly.”
“You always take her side!” Ruby shot back, hurt. “What did I do wrong this time?”
“What did I do wrong?” Arabella raised a brow
“You’re training in medicine, and you refuse to help someone who’s sick. How is that not wrong?” Ruby chalcoped
Arabella kept her tone even “I never refused to help”
“You blocked Aletta–how is that not refusing?”
“Do you have proof?” Arabella gave a faint, cool laugh “If not, maybe you should call the police”

I started the novel with great interest. In the beginning the storyline was captivating. Then I feel that the more the story advances, the twists were no longer great. Moreover I don't like Arabella s personality, cold, distant......
