Chapter 473 The Medication
“It’s all my fault. Everything’s my fault.” Ruby looked like she was about to break down.

“Aunt, Ruby’s probably just on edge from not sleeping well lately. When she talks back to Arabella sometimes, she doesn’t reall mean it–she just can’t help it. I’m sure once she’s feeling better, she won’t act this way anymore,” Naomi said, trying to smooth things over.
“If you understand how to handle people so well, why don’t you take care of her? She doesn’t want me around anyway,” Arabel replied quietly, her tone calm but edged.
Trying to play peacemaker and look like the good person, all while slipping in a little dig. Did Naomi really think she was fooling anyone?
Naomi’s face paled slightly, and she shook her head quickly. “I wouldn’t know how to handle anything like that.”
“You don’t?” Arabella gave her a puzzled look. “But the way you were speaking just now, it sounded like you had it all figured ou You seemed to understand her situation perfectly.”
“No, just thought… Ruby’s been really moody lately, and maybe it’s because she hasn’t been sleeping. You’re the one with medical training, so you’d know better, right? I was just hoping you wouldn’t take it personally,” Naomi said, trying to keep her voice light and persuasive.
Arabella nodded slowly. “That makes sense. But don’t worry–I’m not holding anything against her.”
“That’s good then,” Naomi said with a strained smile, though inwardly she was frustrated.
Arabella was impossible to argue with–she wouldn’t bend no matter what you said.
Ignoring Naomi, Arabella turned to Liam and Sophia. “Uncle, Aunt… you brought Ruby here today…”
What were they really expecting?
“Arabella, Ruby isn’t getting any better. We thought since you’re training under that renowned specialist, you might know how to help her. Didn’t you say before that if she apologized and asked properly, you’d be willing to treat her?” Sophia asked, her voice tinged with helplessness.
She really was out of options. Coming to Arabella was their last hope.
“I don’t want her treating me. I want Aletta,” Ruby insisted stubbornly.
There was no way she was begging Arabella. Never
“Enough,” Liam cut in sharply “Let Arabella check you over first If she really can’t help, then she can comft het manter
Watching them, Arabella understood what was going on
So they weren’t here to pull family strings.
Her uncle and aunt had always been kind to her, and she didn’t want to make this harder for them
“I’m not begging her. No way. She’s dreaming,” Ruby muttered through gritted teeth

“Fine. Then don’t get treated,” Liam snapped, losing his patience.
As he stood up to leave, Ruby panicked. “Dad, are you really just going to stand by and watch me suffer?”
“You’re bringing this on yourself,” Liam shot back, genuinely angry now.
How could she be so stubborn?
“Uncle, wait–don’t go yet,” Arabella said, stopping him. “Just give me a moment.”
With that, she headed upstairs.
She’d thought it would take a few more days before Ruby reached her limit.

“Uncle and Aunt are both sharp. How did they end up with a daughter who just doesn’t get it?” Arabella murmured to herself, shaking her head slightly.
It was pretty obvious. Earlier that day, she’d had Colton turn Ruby down, and her uncle and aunt had already realized they wen getting an appointment with the Aletta.
So they’d brought Ruby straight to her. Ruby, though, was still clinging to some fantasy.
Back in her room, Arabella took a small prescription bottle from her drawer. It contained medication she’d prepared a while ago she’d known from the start Ruby only had two options.
Either come and ask properly, or keep dealing with the anxiety and exhaustion.
After grabbing the bottle, she returned downstairs.
“Uncle, Aunt–here. Have her take two of these each night before bed. Keep it up for a while, and she should start feeling better? Arabella said, handing the bottle to Sophia.
Sophia’s eyes grew slightly wet. “Thank you, Arabella. I’m sorry to put you in this position.”
“It’s alright, Aunt. Just make sure she takes them,” Arabella replied. Then she turned to Jonathan and Florence. “Mom, Dad–607 about time for dinner?”
“Oh–yes, dinner’s ready,” Florence said quickly. “Come on, everyone, let’s eat,“\
“Florence, we really shouldn’t impose-” Sophia began, feeling awkward.
She knew Arabella had only agreed because of them.
“We’re family. It’s no trouble at all. Please, join us,” Florence insisted warmly
Sophia glanced at Liam. He nodded, so she finally agreed
“You all go ahead. I’m not hungry,” Ruby said, sulking
Even though she hadn’t begged Arabella herself, her parents had accepted the medication, in her mind, that still meant she’d lost.
“Suit yourself,” Liam said with a dismissive shake of his head, leading the way to the dining room.
The others followed slowly, leaving Ruby standing there feeling embarrassed and out of place.

“Mom, I just remembered–I have some things I need to take care of back at my place. I’ll skip dinner tonight,” Naomi said, alrea turning to leave.
Florence looked surprised. “Is it that urgent? It’s only one meal. Besides, you’d have to eat when you get home anyway.”
“It just came to mind, and I’ve already put it off too long. I’ll take a rain check. Next time, I’ll treat you and Dad to a nice dinner c Naomi said apologetically.
Florence had no choice but to relent. “Alright then, if you must.”
“Dad, Uncle, Aunt–sorry for rushing off like this. Next time, I’ll take everyone out to make up for it,” Naomi added politely.
Then she glanced toward Frank and Ethan. “You two are included, of course.”

I started the novel with great interest. In the beginning the storyline was captivating. Then I feel that the more the story advances, the twists were no longer great. Moreover I don't like Arabella s personality, cold, distant......
