Arabella couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off about what Matthew had just said.
What does he mean, his life isn’t as good as mine? Is he somehow unhappy that I’m doing well for myself?
And anyway, it really isn’t any of his business.
Hold on-
“Did I do something to upset him?” she wondered. Recalling how moody Matthew had been these past few days, it suddenly hit her–maybe it was because of her.
“But what on earth did I do?” She wracked her brain but came up empty, her expression twisting in confusion.
“What are you mumbling about over there?” Matthew frowned, a trace of irritation in his voice.
Was she really talking to herself instead of just speaking to him?
“Oh, nothing,” Arabella replied, forcing a polite smile as she turned to face him. “I was just thinking about what kind of dress I should wear to the gala tonight.”
Matthew could see right through that fake smile, and it only annoyed him more.
“If you can’t smile for real, don’t bother,” he said coolly, a hint of disdain in his tone.
Arabella shot him a look. “You’re pretty picky, aren’t you?”
She dropped the act and decided to be straight with him. “Just tell me–what did I do to make you so upset?”
She honestly couldn’t figure it out, and not knowing was starting to bother her.
For a moment, Matthew looked taken aback. He hadn’t expected her to be so direct.
“Nothing,” he replied flatly.
“Then why are you acting so distant and cryptic lately?” Arabella pressed, her brows knitting together.
“I’m not acting any kind of way,” Matthew answered coldly. “I’m perfectly normal.”
Arabella shrugged. “Alright, have it your way.”

So she was right–he just didn’t want to admit it.
Well, fine. He could keep it to himself. It wasn’t like it was going to ruin her day.

From the front seat, Andy watched their exchange quietly. He raised an eyebrow slightly. Sur the atmosphere felt a little tense, but honestly, he thought things were looking up.
“At least they’re talking now–even if it’s bickering. That’s better than giving each other the silent treatment,” he murmured to himself, feeling somewhat relieved. Maybe, slowly, things would get better between them.
“You two whispering up there–got some secret you can’t say out loud?” Matthew’s voice cut in sharp and sarcastic.
Andy jumped slightly and quickly explained, “Mr. Stewart, I was just saying we’re almost at th styling studio.”
Just as he spoke, the car came to a smooth stop.
Andy breathed an inward sigh of relief. Thank goodness—saved by the bell.
He hurried out and opened the door. “Mr. Stewart, Dr. Hamilton.”
The two stepped out one after the other. Arabella glanced around and could tell right away ling studio Matthew had chosen was high–end–probably one of those exclusive
ded connections just to get into.
Ir. Stewart,” she said politely.
At least he’d put some effort into this.
“Let’s head inside,” Matthew said, already striding toward the entrance with his long, confident steps.
Arabella followed. The staff inside were already waiting, and as soon as they entered, a well- dressed man greeted them respectfully. “Mr. Stewart.”
Kerry Watson, the studio’s creative director, glanced toward Arabella. “So this is your friend. She’s stunning.”
“Business partner,” Matthew corrected without missing a beat.
Kerry’s eyes widened slightly in surprise as he looked back at Arabella. “Beauty and brains- what a combination.

“Arabella, judging by your age, I’m guessing you’re still in college?” Kerry asked, genuinely curious.
“I started interning early,” she replied simply.
“Impressive. You must be quite the go–getter,” Kerry said, his tone full of admiration.
Arabella offered a small, polite smile. “Thank you.”
Watching how composed and unruffled she remained, even when receiving compliments, Kerry’s interest only grew. This young woman might be new to the scene, but she clearly wasn someone to underestimate.
He turned to Matthew and gave him a knowing smile. “Don’t worry, Mr. Stewart. I’ll take good care of her.
“Arabella, right this way,” Kerry said warmly, guiding her toward the women’s styling section.
The room was spacious and elegantly lit, with several clothing racks of varying heights
ng an array of evening gowns.

I started the novel with great interest. In the beginning the storyline was captivating. Then I feel that the more the story advances, the twists were no longer great. Moreover I don't like Arabella s personality, cold, distant......
