She decided she’d have to store that outfit away–no way could she let it impact sales. Better t just create another set. After all, she wasn’t going to wear it herself, so there was no risk of someone else showing up in the same design.
A short while later, the car came to a stop.
Noise and chatter drifted in from outside. Both of them glanced toward the windows.
Andy had already stepped out and was holding the doors open for them.
Arabella emerged and paused on the sidewalk. Matthew followed right behind, taking his plac beside her.
Their arrival instantly drew attention–curious stares, flashes of excitement, hints of jealousy, even a few resentful glances.
“Arabella.” Hearing her name, she turned.
It was Edward. She broke into a smile and waved. “Hey, Edward.”
Edward approached, offering Matthew a polite nod. “Thanks for the invitation, Mr. Stewart.”
“Don’t mention it. Dr. Hamilton earned it,” Matthew replied evenly.
Edward immediately tensed up. He pulled Arabella aside and lowered his voice. “Earned it? How?”
His eyes swept over her, his concern plain.
Arabella shook her head, amused. “Edward, what’s going through your mind?”
“I’m not overthinking–Mr. Stewart just said…” His own words trailed off.
“Ugh, fine. He asked me to be his plus–one tonight, and he owed me a favor. So I cashed it in for your invite,” she explained.
“Oh, like that.” Edward visibly relaxed.
He didn’t want her going out of her way–or worse–for his sake.
“Arabella, you made it!” Another voice cut in, bright with surprise.

“Ethan! You’re here too!” Arabella sounded genuinely pleased.

“Yeah, had no idea you were coming, or I would’ve offered you a ride,” Ethan said with a warn smile.
Matthew stepped closer, his tone mild but deliberate. “No need to worry, Mr. Hamilton. I picked her up.”
“You two came together?” Ethan’s gaze shifted between them, a knowing look in his eyes.
Arabella felt a twinge of exasperation and shot Matthew a quick glare.
Matthew kept his expression neutral as he added, “Yes, I invited Dr. Hamilton as my date.”
“I see.” Ethan’s tone cooled slightly. “Didn’t realize Arabella was interested in these events. Would’ve invited you myself if I’d known.”
Matthew raised a brow toward Edward. “Perhaps next time, Mr. Hamilton, you could extend the invitation to Mr. Macdonald.”
“Exactly,” Edward chimed in, nodding. “Then Arabella wouldn’t have had to… trade her way in.
“Trade?” Ethan frowned, turning to Arabella.
She sighed inwardly. Great, now it sounds even weirder.
“It’s nothing. Let’s head inside.” Done with explanations, Arabella started toward the entrance.
With people streaming in and out, the four of them lingering outside was drawing far too much attention.
As soon as Arabella moved, Ethan and Edward fell in step behind her.
Matthew was left standing alone for a moment, irritation flickering across his face.
Edward was enough of a complication–now Ethan had shown up too.
Noticing Matthew’s mood, Andy spoke up carefully. “Mr. Stewart, shall we go in? Dr. Hamilton is getting ahead.”
Matthew lengthened his stride and caught up easily, positioning himself beside Arabella as they walked in together.
Arabella glanced up at him but stayed quiet.

Ethan and Edward ended up a few steps behind, almost like escorts. They exchanged a look.
“Next time there’s an event like this, just give me a call,” Ethan said quietly.
“Arabella called me. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have even heard about it,” Edward admitted with a shrug.
His usual circles didn’t exactly overlap with this crowd.
“Noted.” Ethan made a mental note to keep better tabs in the future.
As they made their way inside, whispers trailed around them.
“Who is that with Mr. Stewart?”
“No clue, but if he brought her personally, she must be someone.”
Just past the foyer, a sharp–eyed attendee called out, “Mr. Stewart!”
The buzz in the room faded into silence.
All eyes shifted to the entrance.
There stood Matthew, looking every bit the part of the powerful, polished figure he was–and beside him, a woman in an elegant white gown, strikingly beautiful. Dressed in black and white, they complemented each other perfectly, an undeniable presence.
“Mr. Stewart, so glad you could join us,” a man greeted, stepping forward.
Then his gaze shifted to Arabella. “And this is…?”
“His physician. Dr. Arabella Hamilton,” she introduced herself smoothly.
“Dr. Hamilton, a pleasure,” the man replied with a courteous nod.
Arabella returned the gesture. “Likewise.”
Ethan stepped up behind them, and another familiar face greeted him. “Mr. Ethan, long time
no see.”
“Mr. Hills,” Ethan acknowledged.
“And your companion here—I don’t believe we’ve met. This is…?” Spencer Hills inquired.

I started the novel with great interest. In the beginning the storyline was captivating. Then I feel that the more the story advances, the twists were no longer great. Moreover I don't like Arabella s personality, cold, distant......
