Edward gave a firm nod. “I’ll do everything I can.”

Ethan hesitated briefly before speaking up, his tone earnest. “Look, I know this might be stepping out of line–but for Arabella’s sake, I feel like I should say it.”
“Go ahead,” Edward replied, matching his seriousness.
“Keep an eye on your own family,” Ethan advised. “Especially now.”
Edward paused, then released a quiet sigh. “Honestly, I’ve already distanced myself from them. I know exactly how the Clarks built what they have.”
“Good.” Hearing that Edward was fully aware of Calvin’s methods, Ethan felt some relief.
Edward’s jaw tightened as he looked over at Arabella. “From now on… don’t hold back because of me when it comes to my uncle.”
“I won’t,” Arabella replied evenly.
Edward let out a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding. The last thing he wanted was to be a liability instead of someone who could actually help her.
“Arabella, want to go mingle?” Ethan suggested with a light smile. “There are some interesting talks happening over there.”
“Yeah, come on,” Edward chimed in, his eyes brightening. “You’ve got a real knack for this stuff. Remember that proposal you helped me fine–tune? The client signed right after.”
“Someone just brought up a project I think might catch your interest,” Ethan added.
Arabella considered it for a moment. “Alright.”
She didn’t have anything else planned anyway. Listening in wouldn’t hurt.
The three made their way toward one of the gathered circles, where lively discussions buzzed among small groups.
“Trust me on this–the project has serious potential,” insisted a frustrated–sounding man.
“But the market’s way too niche, and that startup’s ROI projections look shaky at best,” another
voice countered.

“You’re just not seeing the bigger picture.”

“If you’re so convinced, why not fund it yourself?”

“The capital required is beyond what I can handle alone. If I could swing it, you think I’d be sharing an opportunity like this?”
Listening to the back–and–forth, Arabella’s expression turned thoughtful.
“This is what I was telling you about,” Ethan murmured to her. “It’s a medtech project–not a pharmaceutical, but a new kind of medical device. Still in pre–launch, so most people haven’t heard of it.”
He’d done some preliminary research. On paper, it looked decent, but the core tech was outside his expertise–which was why he wanted Arabella’s take.
“Tell me about the product,” Arabella said, her cool, clear voice cutting through the chatter.
After everything that had unfolded earlier, nearly everyone there recognized Arabella. And with Ethan and Edward flanking her, the group’s demeanor shifted to one of noticeable
respect.
“You’re… interested in hearing the details?” The man sounded uncertain.
Arabella raised a brow. “You’re looking for backers, aren’t you? Walk me through it. If it catches my attention, funding won’t be an issue.”
At that, the man glanced almost instinctively toward Ethan, surprise flickering across his face.
“Mr. Ethan, you really do indulge your sister,” someone nearby whispered under their breath. Was he really willing to invest just because she showed interest?
Everyone in those circles knew Ethan had a flawless investment record. Making a rash move now could tarnish that streak.
“It still depends on the product itself,” Ethan stated calmly.
Hearing that, the presenter stepped forward. “Mr. Ethan, I’m Reid. Reid Dixon.”
“Give us the rundown,” Ethan said evenly.
“Right.” Reid nodded and began explaining. “It’s an assistive recovery device for postoperative patients…”
“Do you have a functional prototype?” Arabella cut in.

“Not yet,” Reid admitted.

Arabella’s brows drew together. “From what you’re describing, it sounds like the product isn’t fully developed. Is that why there’s no prototype?”

I started the novel with great interest. In the beginning the storyline was captivating. Then I feel that the more the story advances, the twists were no longer great. Moreover I don't like Arabella s personality, cold, distant......
