“If she didn’t want you to know, then maybe it’s better you don’t,” Matthew replied, clearly not in the mood to discuss it.
Robert’s mustache practically bristled with frustration. “You’re really holding out on me now, aren’t you?”
“It’s nothing worth mentioning,” Matthew said after a pause. “And honestly, it’s work–related.”
“Work–related?” Robert scoffed, unconvinced. “I saw the bag–it was clearly a gift.”
Matthew raised a brow slightly. “Professionals exchange tokens of appreciation sometimes, you know.”
Hearing that, Robert’s eyes lit up. “So you gave her something too? What was it?”
Matthew let out a tired sigh and rubbed the bridge of his nose. Was that really what he’d taken from this?
“Never mind. I’m heading back to the study.” He turned to leave but added, “You just ate—maybe take a walk before settling down for the night.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Robert grumbled, waving a dismissive hand. “Go on, get out of here. You’re just cluttering up the place anyway.”
Matthew made his way upstairs, closing the study door behind him.
From downstairs, Robert’s voice carried up. “Don’t stay up too late–or I’ll be letting Dr. Hamilton know.”
Rubbing his temples, Matthew’s gaze fell on the gift box sitting on his desk.
Even if it was just a polite gesture–a way to keep things even–she had still given it to him. It was… nice to look at.
He lifted the lid. Inside, two cufflinks lay neatly against the velvet lining. Matthew’s expression softened just a little.
Arabella pulled into the driveway at Cloudrise Manor, parked and stepped out of the car.
Spotting Liam’s sedan near the garage, a thin, cool smile touched her lips.
“So he finally showed up.” She walked briskly into the villa.
The living room was full–everyone seemed to be there, and the atmosphere was unusually lively.
Florence smiled warmly as Arabella entered. “There you are. Your uncle and the others have been waiting. Come join us.”
“Arabella… sorry to trouble you again,” Sophia said, her tone apologetic and a little hesitant.
Arabella took a seat on the sofa. “Don’t worry about it, Aunt Sophia. I’ll help however I can.”

“I’m not sure how much you can help this time,” Ruby cut in, chin lifted smugly. “Really, the best thing you could do is stay out of the way while we try to contact your mentor. That would actually be helpful.”
Arabella tilted her head, feigning confusion. “What do you mean?”
“Stop playing dumb. Your medical skills clearly aren’t cutting it. Don’t drag your mentor’s title through the mud just because you can’t admit you’re in over your head,” Ruby snapped, her frustration boiling over. Was she really still pretending?
Arabella kept her expression blank. “I’m not following. What are you talking about?”
Ruby’s face flushed with anger. “Still acting clueless? Are you trying to ruin me?”
“Seriously, I have no idea what you mean,” Arabella said, blinking innocently.
“You-!” Ruby was so mad she could barely get the words out.
Just as she was about to explode, Liam cut in calmly, “Let’s all take a breath. Give Arabella a moment.”
“Give her a moment? So she can make things worse?” Ruby shot back bitterly.
Sophia frowned. “Right now, Arabella might be the only one who can help you. Maybe check the attitude.”
“Whatever. You’re all taking her side,” Ruby muttered, turning her face away as if ending the conversation.
Naomi stepped in to explain. “Arabella, here’s the situation. Ruby’s been taking the medicine you prescribed, but she isn’t getting better. In fact, she feels worse. Do you think… you could re–examine her, or maybe adjust the prescription?”
Arabella raised a brow. “So what you’re saying is either I mishandled her treatment, or my skills aren’t up to par. Is that it?”
“Isn’t that obvious?” Ruby fired back.
Arabella shrugged lightly. “Not really. How could that be?”
“Why not? I haven’t improved–I’ve gotten worse,” Ruby insisted, confidence wavering just slightly.
Arabella looked straight at her. Her gaze was calm, yet it made Ruby uneasy, and she had to glance away.
“Let me check you again, then,” Arabella said. Before Ruby could react, she reached over and placed her fingers on Ruby’s wrist.
“Hey–let go!” Ruby tried to pull back, but Arabella’s grip was firm.
“Trying to make me sicker on purpose?” Ruby struggled, panic rising inside.
How good was Arabella, really? What if she figured everything out….
“Alright.” Arabella released her hold.

I started the novel with great interest. In the beginning the storyline was captivating. Then I feel that the more the story advances, the twists were no longer great. Moreover I don't like Arabella s personality, cold, distant......
