“Arabella, is it really that bad?” Florence asked, her brow deeply furrowed. If even Aletta couldn’t help, what chance did they have?
“Yeah,” Arabella replied with a nod. “If the patient refuses to follow the treatment plan, there’s not much anyone can do.”
The living room fell completely silent.
After a long pause, Ethan finally spoke up. “Uncle, Aunt–honestly, I think you’re just wasting your time here. I really don’t believe Ruby is taking her health seriously at all.”
His words snapped everyone back to reality, and all eyes turned toward Ruby, many filled with clear irritation.
Sophia was the first to confront her directly. “Ruby, have you lost your mind?”
‘Why do you all believe everything she says, but never take my word for it?” Ruby put on a wounded expression, her voice rembling slightly. “She just checks my pulse for a second and claims I haven’t been taking my meds–and just like that, you side with her. You’ve never trusted me.”
‘We’h trust you when you actually give us a reason to,” Liam shot back, his face pale with anger. He couldn’t hide the disappointment in his voice.
‘What have I ever done to lose your trust? Have you actually seen me skip a dose? What makes you so sure I’m not following the plan?” Ruby fired back defensively.
‘If you’ve been following the treatment, why aren’t you getting better?” Liam pressed, his tone firm.
‘I told you–maybe her skills just aren’t good enough! Why won’t any of you listen to me?” Ruby’s voice rose, bordering on a shout.
‘Arabella trained under Aletta. If she can’t help you, who can?” Ethan interjected, frowning.
Frank also shook his head, disapproval written across his face. “Even if you’re upset with Arabella, you shouldn’t play games with your own health.”
‘Fine. Then suffer,” Liam said darkly, his expression hardening. “We’ll just drop it.”
Florence quickly reached for Liam’s arm, calming him with a gentle shake of her head. “Let’s not be hasty. We should talk this
hrough calmly.”
‘Waaah…” Ruby suddenly burst into loud, dramatic sobs. “Why does no one believe me? Everything she says is gospel, and everything I say is just… wrong?”
“Ruby, honey, try to calm down and explain,” Naomi chimed in softly, moving closer to comfort her.
“Naomi, my life is just so unfair!” Ruby cried, throwing herself into Naomi’s arms and weeping even louder.
Naomi patted her back soothingly before offering Arabella an apologetic look. “Arabella, please understand–Ruby’s just very upset right now and isn’t handling her emotions well. I hope you won’t take it personally.”
Arabella simply shrugged, her expression neutral. “I haven’t said or done anything to her.”
What was there to take personally, really? And if Ruby couldn’t control her emotions, wasn’t that their own act to maintain!

Chapter 506 Calling in the Mentor
“Naomi, Arabella hasn’t accused her of anything. Ruby’s the one making a scene,” Ethan pointed out bluntly.

Naomi’s smile stiffened. “That’s not what I meant,” she explained, forcing a guilty tone. “I was just trying to smooth things over I hope Arabella doesn’t read too much into it.”
“Don’t worry, I’m not reading into anything. Your performance isn’t convincing enough to bother me, anyway.” Arabella’s tone was light, almost amused.
Naomi fell silent, her face visibly dropping
Why was Arabella so difficult to handle? Nothing seemed to work–neither kindness nor pressure made any difference.
“Arabella, listen…” Sophia began, caught in the middle. She was worried about Ruby, but she didn’t want to keep putting Arabella in an uncomfortable position.
“We’re going home,” Liam announced decisively. If Ruby didn’t want to get better, so be it.
“Hone of you actually care about me–you just pretend to. I might as well just… disappear. Then you won’t have to worry anymore,” Ruby declared, making a move as if to run outside.
“Ituby, don’t be reckless!” Naomi exclaimed, grabbing her arm and holding her back. “You’re upsetting your parents too.”
“They don’t love me at all. Waaah…” Ruby continued to cry uncontrollably.
“What do you want, Ruby?” Arabella finally asked, one eyebrow slightly raised.
Ruby lifted her tear–streaked face and glared at Arabella. “I want to see your mentor–Aletta. As long as you don’t interfere.”
“I’ve told you before, I’ve never interfered.” Getting an appointment was the hard part–that wasn’t on her.
“And you expect me to believe that?” Ruby retorted bitterly. If Arabella wasn’t blocking it, then who was?
Arabella let out a soft, cold laugh. “Whether you believe me or not really isn’t my concern.”
“Ruby, stop this,” Sophia urged gently. “Arabella already explained that her mentor is semiretired and extremely difficult to book Let’s just focus on the treatment plan she gave you. If you follow it, you’ll get better.”
“The only reason you won’t let Aletta see me is because you know you’re at faulty” Ruby insisted, trying to force Arabella’s hand
A faint smile touched Arabella’s lips. “Are you absolutely sure you want my mentor to examine you?”

I started the novel with great interest. In the beginning the storyline was captivating. Then I feel that the more the story advances, the twists were no longer great. Moreover I don't like Arabella s personality, cold, distant......
