Ruby let out a dismissive snort. “You heard it yourself. Once Aletta arrives and finds out exactly what you’ve been up to, let’s see how he handles you.”
“Name the time and place. Your call,” Arabella replied coolly.
Ruby thought it over. “Tomorrow. At Kindwell Hospital.”
“Not tomorrow. I’ve got plans,” Arabella declined.
‘What do your plans have to do with my treatment? Aletta just needs to show up.” If Aletta could heal her, then Arabella’s medica eputation would be seriously questioned.
‘Didn’t you say you wanted my mentor to kick me out? If I’m not there, how’s he supposed to do that?” Arabella pointed out.
Ruby frowned. Something felt off, but Arabella’s logic was hard to argue with.
‘So when are you free?” Ruby asked, more cautiously this time.
‘Day after tomorrow. At your house,” Arabella answered.
‘No way. I want it at Kindwell Hospital,” Ruby insisted. She was determined to embarrass Arabella right in her own professional setting, where plenty of people could witness her downfall–maybe even cost her her job.
‘I really think your house would be better,” Arabella repeated, her tone even.
‘What, are you scared?” Ruby taunted.
‘I’m only saying it for your own good,” Arabella replied, a hint of something deeper in her voice.
‘I don’t need your advice,” Ruby shot back, shaking her head. Who did Arabella think she was fooling? This was clearly just an attempt to save face.
‘Alright then. Have it your way. Don’t come crying to me later when you regret it,” Arabella said with a tone of mock regret
‘Just make sure you don’t chicken out when the time comes,” Ruby sneered.
Arabella raised an eyebrow, a faint smile playing on her lips. “I’ll be there even if no one else shows up.”
“Fine. It’s settled,” Ruby agreed.
“Deal,” Arabella confirmed.
Watching the two reach an agreement, the others in the room exchanged uneasy glances
“Arabella, is it going to be too much trouble to bring your mentor here?” Liam asked with concern.
“Not at all, Uncle. Don’t worry about it,” Arabella assured him with a confident smile. It really wouldn’t be a problem, “That Ruby…” Liam sighed heavily, looking pained. “If she had even a tenth of your good sense, I’d be relieved “Don’t say that, Uncle. She’s still young,” Arabella offered, though her thoughts trailed off. Ruby just hadn’t faced enough real

consequences yet. A few more hard lessons and she might actually learn something.
“You’re not that much older than her. She’s just… immature,” Liam said helplessly.

“Arabella, I’m really sorry to put you through this again. And to bother your mentor, too. Please let us know if there’s anything we can do to make it up–anything at all,” Sophia added apologetically.
“No requests needed,” Arabella said, her eyes drifting toward Ruby with a knowing glint. “Once Ruby’s better, just make sure she thanks my mentor properly. That’ll be enough.”
Seeing Arabella’s calm smile, Ruby felt an unexpected twinge of nerves. Something about that look made her uneasy deep down.
Why did Arabella seem so… unsettling just now?
‘Of course, we’ll thank her properly–and you too. Your uncle and I are both grateful,” Sophia said quickly.
‘Don’t worry about me. I didn’t really do anything,” Arabella replied, shaking her head lightly.
‘Arabella, don’t take this the wrong way. Maybe your treatment just wasn’t the right match for Ruby. Once Aletta helps her, everything will feel better,” Naomi chimed in, pretending to sound considerate.
‘It’s not about the treatment not matching. It’s about the patient not cooperating with the doctor,” Arabella corrected gently but irmly.
Ruby muttered under her breath, “It’s because you’re not skilled enough, not because I didn’t take the meds.”
Whether you took them or not, you know the truth,” Arabella said indifferently. “Anyway, I’m not the one with insomnia and nerve ssues. I sleep perfectly fine every night.”
Ruby rolled her eyes. “We’ll see how long you can keep acting so smug.”
It’s getting late. Everyone should head home and get some rest,” Florence finally spoke up.
Alright. We’ll be going then,” Sophia said.
Soon after saying their goodbyes, Liam and Sophia left with Ruby in tow.
Florence glanced at Naomi, hesitated for a moment, but didn’t say anything, though her expression dimmed slightly.
‘Mom, I think I’ll stay over tonight, if that’s okay,” Naomi offered on her own.
‘Really?” Florence’s face lit up instantly. “I’ll go get a room ready for you.”
Watching Florence hurry upstairs happily, Naomi quickly followed. “Mom, I can help.”
“Naomi’s staying. Look how happy your mother is,” Jonathan remarked with a soft smile.
“We did watch her grow up, after all. She’s like family,” Frank added quietly.

I started the novel with great interest. In the beginning the storyline was captivating. Then I feel that the more the story advances, the twists were no longer great. Moreover I don't like Arabella s personality, cold, distant......
