True Heiress Returns to Her Unemployed Rich Family (Arabella) novel Chapter 545

"Mr. Lawson, have you lost it? Is she really up for this?" Glancing at Arabella, it was hard to take her seriously.

"Absolutely not!" A sharp voice cut through the room.

Everyone turned to see Sarah standing in the doorway, her eyes fixed on Arabella with a mix of fear and hostility.

"Ma'am, do you know her?" someone asked curiously.

"Arabella... You're the reason my son ended up like this. How dare you show your face here?" Sarah snapped, her tone venomous.

Arabella met her gaze coolly. "Watch your tone, ma'am."

That only set Sarah off more. "Stop acting innocent. Did you come to finish what you started? To hurt Dylan again?"

"Ma'am, this is Dr. Hamilton. She's been assigned by the hospital at the request of the police to oversee the patient's treatment. I'll need you to cooperate," Orion said, his patience clearly thinning.

"This is outrageous. Since when does this hospital let just anyone play doctor?" Sarah fumed, convinced Arabella was here to sabotage her son's recovery.

"You might want to choose your words more carefully. I wouldn't even compare my own skills to Dr. Hamilton's. She is more than capable of handling this case—and she will help him recover," Orion replied, holding his temper in check.

Getting Arabella on board had been a stroke of luck, and he wasn't about to let some hysterical woman chase her off.

But Sarah wasn't listening. "I don't trust her. She's no doctor. I knew her back when she was with the Macdonalds—that whole poor little—"

"Mrs. Johnston." Arabella's voice was calm, almost casual, yet carried an unsettling weight. "Mr. Lawson said watch your words."

Sarah stiffened, the anger in her eyes flickering into caution.

She remembered—vividly—how Dylan and Harper had been taken in by the police for spreading rumors about Arabella's background.

Taking a sharp breath, she clenched her jaw. "Whatever. The answer is no."

"Mr. Lawson, perhaps you should consider someone else. It's... hard to place confidence in someone so young," one of the specialists chimed in, skepticism clear in his voice.

Sarah seized the opening. "Exactly. I brought these specialists all the way from overseas. Are you trying to tell me they're less qualified than some teenager?"

"If you're unwilling to proceed..." Arabella gave Sarah a cool, lingering look.

A chill ran down Sarah's spine. Something felt off.

"Dr. Hamilton, what do you mean?" Orion asked, confused by her tone.

Arabella flicked her wrist gracefully and unfolded a sheet of letter-sized paper, holding it up for everyone to see.

"This is my official assignment notice." She turned it slowly, making sure each person in the room could read it.
