True Heiress Returns to Her Unemployed Rich Family (Arabella) novel Chapter 650

She suddenly felt a flicker of fear. What if the answer wasn't what she wanted—how would she handle it then?

Arabella's pupils narrowed slightly, irritation already tightening her voice. "What exactly are you trying to ask?"

Naomi drew a slow breath and finally let the words out. "You know what I'm talking about."

Crossing her arms, Arabella's demeanor turned icy. "And what if I told you I don't?"

Who did she think she was, coming here to throw accusations around?

"You—" Naomi choked back her anger, her face visibly paling.

"Don't pretend you don't know what's on my mind," Naomi said bitterly. "Last night didn't go as I planned, but Matthew didn't hold it against me. So as far as I'm concerned, it's not over yet."

"Over?" Arabella let out a sharp, dismissive laugh. "You think this is some kind of game to me?"

She shot Naomi a withering look. "Don't come here and flaunt your foolishness."

She still couldn't wrap her head around why Matthew had let Naomi off the hook so easily.

But one thing was certain—it wasn't out of any soft spot for her.

He'd fought off the drug with everything he had. If he'd wanted her, why go through all that?

Naomi's cheeks flushed crimson under Arabella's retort. All she could muster was a bitter, "Don't act so high and mighty. You think just because you used some sneaky tricks to get close to Matthew, everything will go your way?"

Arabella stared at her, genuinely stunned. What in the world?

It finally clicked—Naomi actually believed she and Matthew had...

Seriously? Did she think everyone else operated on her level?

"Are we done here?" Arabella had no interest in continuing this conversation.

"You're no better than the rest of us, Arabella." Naomi snorted in contempt. "I thought for sure Matthew would come by today to talk about... arrangements. But he didn't show. And he let me go without a word. Doesn't that tell you he's not really that into you?" A hint of smugness crept into Naomi's tone.

She'd been on edge all day, but when Arabella came home alone that evening without even mentioning last night, it dawned on her—maybe things weren't as dire as she'd feared.

Arabella's patience snapped. "Get out."

She really couldn't stand talking to someone so delusional. Had the shock completely fried Naomi's common sense?

"No need to get so defensive. We'll see how things play out." Naomi tossed back, growing more convinced by the minute that she still had a shot.

Arabella took a deep, steadying breath. "Don't make me throw you out myself."

Catching the dangerous glint in Arabella's eyes, Naomi rolled her eyes with a huff. "Fine, I'm going."

As she turned to leave, she couldn't resist adding, "This isn't over between us."

"Bang!"

Arabella slammed the door shut. She was absolutely done with her.

"Has she lost her mind?" Arabella muttered, completely baffled by Naomi's audacity.

After everything that happened last night, where did she get the idea that Matthew had any feelings for her?

She shook her head in disbelief. "She's definitely lost it."
