Chapter 11
Sunrise crept through the windows, highlighting Ruby’s perfect, untouched features.
Nothing like that blood-soaked woman who’d just killed his baby.
Probably for the best. They were divorced anyway.
Scarlett had done him a favor by disappearing.
“It’s fine.” He stubbed out the cigarette. “I’m gonna shower.”
In the bathroom, he speed-dialed his crew.
“Those East Side assholes-don’t leave any breathing. Clean job. Feed what’s left to the sharks at the docks.”
Ruby settled into the mansion as the new lady of the house.
Vincent had designers create custom everything-gowns, jewelry, even created some bullshit executive position at the
casino.
But exhaustion was eating him alive.
Every time he came home from the violence and chaos, looking into Ruby’s innocent eyes, he felt like two different people.
Half of him was the ruthless king who ruled New York’s underworld.
The other half played dress-up as the respectable businessman Ruby thought she’d fallen for.
His mind kept drifting back to Scarlett.
With Scarlett, he never had to pretend.
She never flinched-she’d plot with him, help him solve problems permanently.
